Usually we are looking around this time for Store Championships, but it seems to be no news about them. Does anyone have any insight? I am going to guess it is not going to go the same way as X-wing seems to be going with a potential store champs for each wave. any thoughts from the crowd?
So... Store Championships, ideas on the when?
Some stores have already announced theirs and theyre "soon" so hopefully soon.
I had been noticing the lack of announcements as well. My guess is that it will be something new.
First, Legion is not using the Store Champs/Regionals model and then X-Wing announced it was moving away from that as well. I would think that Armada (and Imp Assault) will be moving to some new system.

That is interesting. I don't think our FLGS has even had the chance to order a kit.

I agree, my FLGS said they have not received any information on it either.
So no one really knows what's kit content?
Nope.
Yeah my FLGS was supposed to email FFG but we have not heard anything back from them. I tried poking them Monday but have not heard back. I will try again i person this afternoon.
My LGS put their order for Store Champs in with the order for the first two season kits a few months ago. So they tell me anyway...

"When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then FFG will announce things in a timely manner, and not before."

talking to two of my flgs's they said that they had to put in the for the full year or seasons worth and had already done it. I would imagine this means something would come of it eventually.

Sometimes I wonder how FFG works... I mean, here we have people saying their LGS ordered some, ordered all, or haven't had the chance to order yet. Since we have a GNK this coming weekend, I suspect those who haven't ordered yet may be up **** creek, but now I am wondering if my LGS screwed up and only ordered for half of the year.

I am not 100% sure but i believe they were only offered one option, which was the all in packages for each game they had. I believe they got rid of ordering for each kit. My understanding was that this allowed them to get in on store champs. However, there was no idea on the regional champs. all in all, I could be completely wrong on the packaging of the kits.

I suppose it is important to note that I am in Canada. Asmodee has an exclusive distribution deal with one company here in Canada and everything has to go through them. Which incidentally has been an atrocious experience, I have waited 6 months for my LGS to get Armada product, and usually have to wait a couple months at minimum to get anything beyond what they were allocated during a pre-order. Asmodee has been bad for FFG around here.
Not to derail the thread, mostly just bringing up the fact that different countries will have different distributors with different policies.

QuoteMore Support for In-Store Play
After the release of X-Wing Second Edition, in-store play will remain the greatest driver and focus for X-Wing Organized Play, and we will be supporting your favorite local game stores and your X-Wing communities with more materials, events, and styles of play than ever before! The Launch Weekend will welcome new and current players into the game's second edition with activities to help you explore this new chapter in the ongoing X-Wing saga.
The recurring Seasonal Kits will expand, beginning in December 2018, and each of these kits will be designed to support three events or leagues per season. Additionally, each Seasonal Kit will introduce a new challenge that you can complete anytime during that season's events. Rise to the challenge, and you'll win a special challenge prize!
Perhaps the most exciting news for your local in-store play is that the kits used to support the current Store Championships will be upgraded to Deluxe Wave Kits, which will accompany each new wave of expansions. Each Deluxe Wave Kit will support a Wave Championship, where you can compete for the title of Wave Champion at your store and the bragging rights that come with it.
Deluxe Wave Kits will also support two other events—a release celebration that uses Quick Build cards to thrust you straight into action with the wave's new ships, and a thematic event that features a tailored squad-building pool, encouraging you to explore even more of what the newest ships have to offer. In addition, each Deluxe Wave Kit will come with patronage cards that reward you for making X-Wing purchases at the stores where you play.
Finally, these Deluxe Wave Kits will tie together all the events that take place in your favorite local game store between wave releases. Your performance at each event will earn you points in an ongoing contest to become the overall Wave Leader. Just before the release of the next wave, your store will declare the player with the most points their Wave Leader and award them a special prize!
More Competitions to Win
Players looking for higher levels of competition will find more opportunities than ever to test their skills against rival squad leaders—all of which take the core X-Wing tournament experience and ramp it up for the second edition! The Hyperspace Trials are the first and widest level of competition. This is the new name for the existing Regional Championships, and will offer a similar experience. Unlike the current Regional Championships, however, these Hyperspace Trials will be open to all retailers able to meet the eligibility requirements for their territories. This means players will most likely find more opportunities to travel for high-level, regional competition.
Moreover, because the Hyperspace Trials won't be restricted to a set number of events, we will offer two periods of Hyperspace Trials per year. In 2019, the first Hyperspace Trials will take place between March and June, and a second set of Hyperspace Trials will take place between September and December.
A select number of Hyperspace Trials will be run as Hyperspace Cups. These Hyperspace Cups will come with additional prizes and offer an experience similar to that of the existing National Championships.
Simultaneously, the System Open Series will continue to consist of a limited number of larger events around the world. In the game's first edition, these events have proven highly successful, drawing hundreds upon hundreds of players, and contributing positively to the development of the worldwide X-Wing community. In the game's second edition, we will continue to build upon these events and are incorporating them more fully into the Organized Play program.
Starting in 2019, the Hyperspace events and System Open Series will all qualify players toward the X-Wing World Championshps.
The pinnacle of X-Wing Organized Play—and the culmination of the year's Hyperspace events and System Open Series—the X-Wing World Championships will continue to feature the world's best players at the top of their game.
This is an event that gives birth to legends, and even as players from across the globe pilot their squads in heated battles, we will let everyone at home enjoy all of the event's action and drama via our livestream. In the end, though, only one player will claim the title of X-Wing World Champion, and that player will claim The Greatest Prize in Gaming™—the chance to work with the game's developers to inspire a future card!
Potential takeaways for Armada:
- Seasonal kits potentially get bigger with multiple event support
- Store Championship kits are now New-Wave kits
- Regionals are now "Hyperspace Trials", more shops will get to host them, and...
- ... you will need to do well at a "Hyperspace Trial" in order to get into Worlds.

They'll be delivered via Eagles or Rohirrim

The store that runs this event just posted about 20 mins ago that the event might be pushed back because they're not getting a response from FFG on kits that FFG said would originally be delivered by that date haven't been shipped yet. Something weird is going on.
So Canada has also already run a 2018 Nationals, which FFG approved, but where we didn't get the kit in time(it also hasn't even been announced as to what's in it yet) (also ours was on a weird out of season issue due to the moving of worlds). What they did was send us a 2017 kit for prizes day of, and they will mail everyone the prizes (yay participation card for me) that we should have gotten at the event when it's finally made.
Well if we get wave based championships and we get a wave every 15 months...

It's not just Armada; nobody's gotten anything yet.

Honestly it's hardly surprising for them to do last min tournament announcements / kit delivery. I think the first stores for regionals didn't have their stuff until like the day before the tournaments(black friday? i think). But whatever, the kits they send out for Armada this round will probably have x-wing 2.0 stuff in it.
Get excited guys.
Edit: if someone feels like digging you can find those threads and the first pics from when that guy received his stuff for the store and posted it on the forums for us so we actually could see what was in the kit. FFG has the worst possible public relations with their base I can imagine.

Could be worse.
I could be in charge of it.

That was me. Yeah we got it less than 3 days before the tournament
I got pics out the day before.
FFG really dropped the ball here. We'd have had way more people had they not allowed a national holiday weekend be the day we hosted... And the fact that NO ONE knew what was in the kit until the DAY before the first regional event was sheer BS.

I want to believe you'd let stores/customers know when they intended tournament stuff to go out. we're a little over a week away from the first(only?) stores store championship being run that's been announced (by the store itself given) and we have literally no info outside of that store saying "hey we're doing the SC this day because ffg told us we should have the kits by then...".
I've been to Game Cafe, it's an awesome store and the guy that runs it/the tournaments is amazing ( I played him last store championship when i was very green, my first tournament, and he was great to play against). So at no point do I fault them for putting their announcement out there and FFG's twitter confirmed the kits were kicked out a week or two back so I'm confident the article is coming "soon"™️.
Ugh, I'm ranty today.
