First Order/Resistance Conversion Info Or Speculations?

By Codes, in X-Wing

Hey, don’t mind the noob in the room, I haven’t been watching all the news coming out as closely as some have, still learning to play the game in my spare time.

Im curious to what’s officially been said about FO/Resistance conversions?

Also, since I don’t think we have much info, any speculations? Or perhaps things you’d like to see?

Nothings been shown or said apart from that it will come down the line. I'm anxious to see what has happened to my bae Quickdraw...

I’ve heard them mention they’ll be wave two, but I’m not sure if that means wave two of releases or wave two of game conversions (which might be further away). My take away is that the resistance and first order will be out before epic. And that while epic is lagging behind, it will definitely eventually show up.

From the livestreams we know that the conversion packs will be cheaper than the Rebel/Empire/Scum packs, and we’ll get more conversions for each ship (given the small number of Resistance/FO 1.0 ships available).

They will come in Wave 2, which I believe they said is to come a couple of months after Wave 1.

Wave 2 of game conversions - this is known, they have mentioned that. They also said that since there are not as many Resistance and First Order ships/pilots/upgrades as for Rebels/Galactic Empire/Scum, these conversion kits will cost less. But there are no specific details as of yet.

I'm expecting to see the TIE /sf with access to a Gunner slot. Especially since the Rear gunner they revealed has pretty much the SF title, or similar to it.

I am hoping that Poe’s ability is changed, so that it emulates his flying on Takodana. Defeat a foe, spend a charge to attack another target.

I’d like to see 2-3 SF conversions, 3-5 FO in conversion box, 1 upsilon and 1-2 silencers.

What I will see? No clue - I didn’t buy a ton of FO product so if it’s 1/3/1/1 I am happy as can be too.

Resistance will probably be 3-4 t70s, 1-2 bombers plus one falcon.

It may be out by the end of the year. They said it would follow a months on from the Wave 1, which either puts it on shelves just before Christmas, or delayed into early 2019.

So when is there enough content that these factions are viable without their original counterparts? Now?

And, I’m even more interested in Epic coming to version two. That is delayed because of the totally different rules that had to be adjusted. But, with the flexibility offered by the squad builder app, I’m looking forward to some amazing epic scenarios. I’m also holding out hope that FFG may try to incorporate “props” such as gun emplacements so that things like the death star trench run can be a thing. Hey, it’s an opportunity to sell more miniatures without having to wait for new content to present itself on screen first! My fingers are crossed that X-Wing will move into these more casual types of play. It already sonds like store championships will have a more casual option in addition to the standard 200/6 tournament style, so I really feel we moving in a direction where great things can happen.

Basing the numbers off of the Rebel/Empire conversion sets I’d guess at a minimum:

2 T-70’s, 2 Falcons, 2 Bombers

3 FOs, 2 SFs, 2 Upsilons, 2 Silencers

But the devs said that they will be providing more conversions for each ship in the Resistance/FO packs so I’m guessing there will be more.

I hope the Resistance conversion kit will have all 10 dials needed.

4 T-70 (perhaps 3 if there is a TFA Core Set) 2 Falcons and 4 Bombers.

I think since Kylo/QD/Episolon Ace and Rey/Poe were viable lists the factions will be ok. I’m looking forward to the more limited lists that will allow the Aces for each faction to really shine.

Welcome! As mentioned FFG have said these factions will come in Wave 2. That’s really all we know.

Speculation wise:

Wave 2 will have the TIE/FO and TIE Silencer resculpt. Resistance will get T-70 with moveable s-foils and RZ-2 A-Wing (they really need this to flesh out the Resistance as a separate faction and it’ll be the first 2.0 exclusive ship). We can be pretty sure Kylo and Rey have Force resource.

Falcons are cheaper according to devs, so you may need 3 dials.

But yeah, given the low number of ships in each faction this is closer to what I actually expect.

Yeah possible i will need more. I am currently thinking about restarting to play X-Wing with 2.0.

Currently i plan to fly Resistance and might pick up 2 HotR and 2 Bombers for around 100€ as a starting point.

Costing less is good. And hopefully at least info by the end of the year, a release would be even better by then.

I’ve just started playing with a few friends and we are already building according to the 5 factions and I’ll be getting First Order and Resistance (me and my wife) while they play the others. I’m hoping my conversion is cheaper and lest waste than there’s when the time comes. So far it sounds good. I am hoping they do something core set related. I really don’t want a rebel/empire core set,if possible, to get the new components. It’s not a big deal yet anyways since we don’t plan to convert until everyone in our small group is ready.

Maybe the conversion kits might include a new ship or the new game components. I’d be okay with something like that, but don’t see it happening.

If you want more falcons there are quite a few of the HotR ones on eBay being resold for cheap. Perfect if you already have a Black One and just want the YT.

Thing is...Scum, Rebels, and Resistance all have claim to a Han Solo pilot. They really do need to figure their stuff out.

Not a problem with subtitles! The Hans Solo (like Attorneys General) can all have different abilities and even Initiative.

I actually like the subtitles a lot for this reason. It gives FFG the ability to really tie each pilot to the fluff and what role/time period they belong to. It always felt arbitrary in 1.0 when they gave pilots different abilities/Initiative versus when they kept everything the same when putting them in a different ship.

I wonder if they will add Star Wars Rebels ships to the Resistance as it lines up with the timeline.

If they do, the Resistance conversion pack might look like...

-New A-Wing

-T-70

-Resistance Bomber

-Attack Shuttle

-Sheathipede Shuttle

-Ghost

-Captured Tie

-Auzituck Gunship

Almost baseless speculation, but it would flesh out the faction and it is a line that you can see separating the animated series from the live action ones in a way that betters X-Wing's faction balance.

Uh... wait what?

Did you... watch Rebels?

Rebels happens pre Original Trilogy, so I don't see this happening. Although the new show is called Resistance so I'd expect content from that show to help bolster up the Resistance and First Order factions.

I'm expecting we'll see at least 1 new Resistance ship come along with the Wave 2 release. Probably an A-Wing or Y-Wing.

My biggest curiosity is faction identities. How will FO/Resistance be different from Imp/ Rebel.

My guess/hope is that, in a very general sense, original trilogy faction strengths will lean towards swarms, and new trilogy faction strengths will lean towards aces. Again, in a very general sense.

I know the original trilogy has aces like Han, Wedge, Soontir, and Vader, but I'm basing my speculation on the comparison of Howlrunner and Omega Leader.

To put it another way, new trilogy will be strongest with 2-3 ship lists whereas the original trilogy will be strongest with 4-5+ ship lists.

This is all just spitballing, we'll probably have to wait until we actually get our grubby little paws on the conversion kits to know for sure.

Im hoping the FO gets access to the punisher as a cross faction ship. Would make up for lack of bombers. Also maybe the phantom.

Resistance are Gloryhound aces running 2-3 ship lists. First Order are suicidal devoted zealots who will do whatever it takes to win with their mini-elite swarms.
