I find the doom and gloom posts kind of hilarious. Armada is still selling well and its community is very active. The small attendance to worlds might be explained by the difficulty to get tickets. Don't worry guys, Armada is not getting cancelled anytime soon. My only worry is that we might run out of ships for the new waves soon.

They can always move beyond OT. Question is will they be rolled into the existing 2 factions, our be brought in as new factions? Before X-Wing 2E I would have said the former. Now I’m not so sure.

I would love them moving beyond the OT, but I would prefer them releasing them as a separate game, like Star Wars Armada: Clone Wars. I personally would like the theme of the Galactic Civil War to stay the same in Armada.

X-Wing's probably going to get more, but unless it's future squadrons, I don't see Armada getting anything else from Solo. And even though they are prevalent in the trailers, we already have enough ISD variants for the time being. *takes cover*

Forgetting this guy?

I'll be running a fleet of, like, 6 of them. Just for the psychological impact on my opponent....

Well from the size of the forums I always assumed 1:4 ratio between Armada and X-Wing players, but the Worlds statistics pretend there is 1:10 shame,

Also I am curious what is the male/female ratio in this finals for all of the turnout

Not at all. I never want to see this ship in Armada or I'm just in complete denial this atrocity exists.

This design was the concept art of the first ISD. I'm glad it had previously died there and I'm dying on the inside that they somehow thought it was a good design for today.

Has there been a movie still of it, yet?

nope, because they're terrified already that solo is going to flop terribly, pointing out that they have the CVS generic version of the ISD in it probably wouldn't help. That ship looks more like the parody version of a star wars ship, something from the "space balls" universe.

You nailed it @dominosfleet . It looks more like a ship out of Spaceballs.

It would be tolerable if not for the excessive dishes everywhere.

Armada just isn’t a good tournament game. I still think the way the game is sold is a major reason why Armada isn’t as popular as xwing. We have several CC campaigns going on at our LGS, but haven’t been able to get a single new person into the game because of the price of the starter set. If they did faction starter sets (where you only have to buy one faction) I think it would be much easier to sell the game to new players. Every week we have someone new see the game and ask about it, but when they ask how much it costs to start, that’s always when the conversation ends :/

I think they had to tone down the design for better blue screen results

Agreed. The Armada starter set is WAAAY over priced. There are many cheaper games with many more miniatures (25+) and many of these have bigger and better miniatures. The Disney tax must be ridiculous.

Wave 7 releasing three cards that embrace that worst parts of this game (Pryce, Bail, SAd) hurt my passion for the game. The FAQ helped restore a lot of what was lost. I’ve been waiting on a wave 8 announcement to really decide how passionate I stay about Armada. .

The hyperspace report was a steaming pile to get us to tune in and find out about XWMG 2.0. That burned every piece of passion for Armada I had and pissed away every bit of goodwill I have with FFG. Had they been straight up and said “we’ve got XWMG announcements” and not “we have all things Star Wars announcements” I would have thought the whole shebang was cool. The dishonesty sits extraordinarily poorly with me. Just short of me walking away from all of FFG’s Games period.

This article doesn’t matter to me at all. They can’t really salt the wound much more than they already have. I am now waiting for them to give me a reason to care. Either for Armada or Runewars.

Yes, salty. No, I don’t think it is an overreaction. Incompetence and a lack of punctuality can be forgiven. Intentional dishonesty is not easily forgotten. That dishonesty sits worse and worse with me by the week.

Oh good! They posted a new article on X-Wing! I was worried they hadn't already said enough about it during Worlds...

What's really crazy to me is that not only did they not announce anything armada related, they didn't announce anything out side of x-wing the entire week. That's insane.

I, for one, needed to learn more about how to turn left in their newish table top game. f1-star-wars-f1-x-wing-concepts-2016-sta

Agreed. I really don’t understand their marketing strategy, if indeed there is one.

This was a "true" World Championship. From my guess there were around 115 player from outside of USA (guessing on the number of German players, that i know were there maybe 140 at max). And this even include Canada. This leaves 828 player from USA.
~87% US player vs. 13% non US player.

And there are some other numbers i would have loved to see.
For example:
How many player sign up but did no come to the tournament (around 20! in Armada). THIS is what really hurt the game, limited seats and some **** who take the seats from others who would have loved to come. ?
How many national+ Champions were there (how many are there at all / US and non US ones), and how many of them got their flight paid? If you remove these numbers from the players, it will be even more extreme.
How many player where hammering the sign up for tickets? Meaning, how many more would have come if they had a chance?
How many of the seats where from reservation and how many were given out in the lottery?

The number of meals is rather low. the worlds were over 4 days. I would have thought of a way high number with 943 player being there for 4 days.
But the volume of sales from the other restaurants/bars/fast food shops would be interesting as well. I guess they have a nice increase during the worlds (no idea how many other conventions are there during the rest of the year, beside the worlds in May and November).

Don't get me wrong, i know that the numbers would be similar (just not as extreme, maybe 70/30) if the worlds would be outside of the USA. There are just way more US player than there are non US player. It is as well way cheaper for FFG to do the big tournament in their central instead of having to ship all around the world. And Minneapolis is one of the cheaper areas for a World Championship (LA would be worse for example).
But this imbalanced numbers really make it hard to call it a "Worlds" ?

And one last think: I loved it how they said, that they sold 20 million products for all Star Wars games and 7 million for x-wing. This just means that they messed up with 2/3 of their customers by NOT giving any Infos about any game beside X-Wing ?

Dude, it's super important. You can't win if you can't turn left.

Does anyone think FFG are actually using Worlds attendance rates as way of determining Armada's importance?

I mean, if FFG limited the number of tickets, surely they must be aware that the attendance numbers do not reflect the player base?

And surely going of sales volumes and profits would be a more accurate way to judge the numbers, and therefore judge how much support Armada warrants?

I can totally understand them spending all their effort this week supporting the 2.0 announcement for X Wing. It has to be their biggest product line by a huge margin.

As a casual/epic player, I started to drift away from XW last year because of power creep and imbalances. I then got more heavily into Armada.

The new version for XW looks great and if it fulfills on it's promise to rebalance the game then I'm definately in although I'm aiming to download the rules and just buy the Rebel Conv kit which nearly covers my collection. As a casual player that might just be enough to get by. The only real thing missing is the new damage deck which I can work around.

However, now I'm heavily invested in Armada (and loving it), I'll just play both. Plus I play Imperial Assault campaigns and occasional game of Rebellion. Money aside, why restrict yourself?

PS FFG own my wallet.

A 3rd faction would be nice, but does the scum faction have capital ships?
