There’s gonna need to be better force cards to come out before Channel is worth it. Man, I hope we see that day! ?

While Force users are spending Command cards just to get into range, hunters get to spend the same amount of Command cards to pump damage into their attacks. Ahsoka can 1-Shot a Jet if she’s focused, but after that her damage output averages in the 4-5 range. Same is true for Obi-Wan. I actually like Davith a lot because he also averages about 5 damage per activation, but he gets to spread that damage around more precisely without overkilling, which makes him a good cleanup figure. I often have games where Davith finishes off 2-3 damaged figures at once.

I have a Force User spy list that I love, I love Jedi. But I think Force users are going to need a card similar to Beast Tamer if they want to put 4 speed no-reach vanilla figures on the table. Channel is not that card, it just dilutes your hand and only gives you free movement for one turn.

I literally just was talking about this with someone yesterday lol. As far as cards that add damage they do have force surge and telekinetic throw and I suppose Deathblow, but they could use another card that adds damage during attacks or something that gets rid of dodges, because deadly precision is garbage (I mean Hunters have Weequays which usually do this and Heightened Reflexes, and a few figures have it built in with a surge like Inquisitor and ISB infiltrators). In general although the game is far more balanced than it once was, most melee units still struggle verses ranged lists and don't see competitive play.

Well, that's what I'm thinking as well, we may get one more movement card with this wave, but I think we have enough, the cards that are more in the vein of Deathblow I think is what we'll get more of to strengthen Melee figures. All these free action, free attack figure abilities are where I think they are leaning. Tress is sort of like Davith, in that she is good at finishing off figures that have been hit already or softening them up.

Frankly I still think the weequays should have had trooper or guardian (oh if they would ever get thrown something) instead of Hunter. Hunter should have been reserved for the big guys like IG, Bossk Dengar, Greedo, etc. not for regular smuggler types. I think we all agree that the straight damage from Hunter cards is a little over-powered and easily the strongest deck out there. I don't want it repeated with every ability though as I think it dumbs down the game and strategy.

I'd rather see other attributes get a boost to match but be different from the power of Hunters. You almost hate to see On The Lam as much as you hate to see Assassinate or Tools. I'd like for Troopers and Guardians and Wookiees and Spies, etc to get a card equal in power to On the Lam or Assassinate

Channel the Force would be worth its cost if you could pull out more cards than Force User cards:

  • Named Force User Trait -- JK Luke (but not Obi-Wan) suffers 3 Strain to pull out Son of Skywalker, etc.
  • Zero-Cost Traitless Cards -- Free Urgency or Element of Surprise. Not Take Initiative though.

The idea of a Jedi Tamer card is really fun! Though I think you can take it in multiple directions:

  • Exhaust at the start of an activation to perform a free move. (JK Luke gets super dangerous w/ this.)
  • Exhaust during an activation to gain 3 movement points and one block token or evade token.
  • When a hostile figure moves within 3 spaces of any of your Force User figures, exhaust this card to interrupt to move that figure 2 spaces and perform an attack.

there's more movement cards than you guys think, and I think they'll have 1-2 more added with this wave. Deathblow is one of the best cards for Force User to come out. Both Ezra/Kanan and the Tyrants pack and maybe even Zeb/Sabine will have a melee focused cards, so there's 3 more at least I predict. Urgency and Fleet Foot are good for melee figures and with figures like Luke and Kanan having Leader, you may see cards like Reposition or Advanced Warning being used more.

Plus multi-trait synergy. Ezra has OtL as an option to get into position, and JKL got Face to Face and Looking for a Fight with the last wave. Ahsoka's mobility is not in question. Kanan and Obi-Wan could use an extra shove, sure, but the rest of the gang is pretty nimble! And if you're running several of them, there's always playing Meditation with Channel the Force to have one of the most powerful round one power-ups available. Not to mention that Obi-Wan can pretty reliably turn an objective point or even a terminal to your side, even if he isn't swinging in round one. I sort of love the notion of running him to the opposing terminal on Mos Eisley round one, just to stop their card draw and present a big immediate threat to support/box units.
