confused about conversion packs

By Tortletalk, in X-Wing

Hello pilots,

I've read up as much as I can on the conversion packs for 2.0 but I've yet to find out precisely what is inside them... I get the ship types and numbers but I'm still confused as to the rest:

Do we get plastic medium bases and stems for any medium ships?

Do we get multiple dials for each ship? (So for 2 X-wings in the pack we get 2 x-wing dials?)

Do we get ALL the upgrades that are in the standalone ship kits? (Again with X-wings: do we get all of the same upgrades that are in the individual kit?)

If the answer is yes to the last question, do we get two copies of all pilot cards, ship bases, medium bases (where applicable) tokens and upgrades?

How about the new core set - do we get the upgrades and pilots from that in the relevant conversion kit?

Sorry for nooby questions, thanks in advance!

You get 4 plastic bases for medium ships (I think i read imperial kit might only have 2, since the only ship that uses it is the punisher?)

You get 1 dial for each ship that it converts. So yes, you get 2 x-wings int he pack, there'll be 2 x-wing dials. 3 a-wings, you get 3 a-wing dials, etc.

You get every pilot and upgrade from the wave 1 blisters. If you're buying the conversion kits, you won't need to buy the single ship blisters unless you want the new/extra models.

There should be 1 copy of each unique pilot card, then enough generics to cover however many of a ship it converst (2 rookies, 3 prototypes, etc), with enough cardboard bases as well to cover them.

Should get all the tokens you need as well.

The core set pilots/upgrades are NOT int he conversion kit.

Where do you see this. I cannot find it on this site? Do you have a location or link?

A lot of the info on various stuff for 2.0 came fromt he devs on stream during the demo games wednesday

Oh. Why would they not post that here, so if we want to preorder we know how many to buy.

Alright, thanks for the help that clears up a lot :)

Because they need material for the avalanche of preview articles that are about to hit us. ;)

I have another question: the conversion kit contain at least x2 of each ship in the collection, this means that in this kit i have two copies of each non unique upgrades card?

I think FFG is testing a new marketing strategy. Releases Legion, flies away. Drops the 2.0 bomb, flies away...

We don't know the answer to this yet. At the least, I think we might be able to assume that upgrades that are ship specific (like the X-Wing S-Foils configuration card) will be included equal to the number of ships converted by the kits.

Some super quick back of the envelope calculations!

There are 5 unique cross-faction upgrades and 115 non-unique cross-faction upgrades. That gives 235 cards if we wanted two of each non-unique.

Then add (these numbers are probably off a bit here and there, I wasn't super methodical):

19 unique and 32 non-unique for Empire = 286 total

53 unique and 34 non-unique for Rebels = 322 total

31 unique and 54 non-unique for Scum = 320 total

Obviously that is much more than the stated 170 upgrade cards, but there are several caveats. First, I didn't separate out First Order and Resistance. Second, many of these cards are fixes that won't exist in 2nd edition. Third, many more of them are cards that will be rolled in as ship abilities (the Empire in particular has a lot of these). Fourth, there is going to be a general cutting-down of upgrade cards - or at least of those that are going to be making an appearance in wave I. So, generally, I don't think it's out of the question that there will in fact be two copies of each generic upgrade.

you get enough to play each ship listed, but not all combinations of ships because there arent enough medium bases.

it appears many ships will only have a single named pilot, and some ships may only have generics(this is unclear as packs are unspoiled, but the number of pilot cards is light for the number of ships)

all the upgrades are NOT included. only an introductory sample akin to a core set. since most cards are being billed as "faction specific" that may mean that scum, first order and resistance players may get very little from the core set other than damage deck and templates

it is established that future releases of 2.0 ships will contain new pilots, upgrades, etc. it is very likely these will be the "good" aka powercreeped pilots, though this is obviously a guess. FFGs is clearly trying to fight powercreep with 2.0, but their history is suspect. we'll see. its worth noting that the famous named pilots like Bobba Fett and Bossk arent being advertised yet. maybe you have to buy them later?

we also havent seen this required "app". it is probably free. its probably got all the cards listed even if you dont own them so you can use them. we dont know, and we wont know much about squad points etc until its released.

so reading beetween the lines, the current conversion kits are only part of the conversion cost, the rest is as yet unknown, and probably expensive if you have a large fleet and want competetive pilots/upgrades for the ships you currently own

Wow almost all of that is misleading or false information. 4 medium bases should cover almost any combination of medium ships (all are generally 25 plus points in 1e).

Your second paragraph has literally no basis in reality: see the already spoiled pilots.

All of the upgrades available on release and usable by that faction will be included in the conversion kits, except upgrades in the core set.

Boba was featured heavily in the demo game. Bossk is almost a given in the conversion kit based on pilots spoiled so far.

App is confirmed multiple times on the stream as being free by the devs.

FFG is 2.0 Miranda confirmed! Run from the might of the bomb 'n run tactics!!!

Ther'es enough in each kit to fly a 200 point list of all medium bases. *IF* you only buy one kit, then you won't have enough for epic or escalation or other larger formats.

I highly doubt any ship will only have a single named pilot or only generics. I wouldn't be surprised to see some ships with all uniques still (like the attack shuttle and sheathipede, arc, etc in 1e). We hav eno idea what the actual breakdown will be.

It includes every upgrade available in wave 1 except what's in the core set.

Yes, they'll have new pilots and upgrades. That will be obtainable wihtout buying new models. And we've absolutely seen boba and bossk, and most of the major famous pilots. Wedge, Luke, Vader, Soontir, Dengar, Fenn, and plenty more have all been spoiled already, at least in part.

It's absolutely free. Gogo fearmongering?

It converts and lets you fly all of your ships day 1. You might have to get new pilots and upgrades as they come out just like everyone else, except you own't have to buy new models like someone who doesn't already own one would. And spread across however long it takes to rerelease 14 waves worth of ships.

Also, if you don't collection every faction, you no longer have to buy out-of-faction ships just for upgrades (such as autothrusters in the starviper)

Yeah, the "Boba isn't in the game yet" is blatantly false, as both his pilot card and crew card can be seen in the Scum announcement articles. Either Vontoothskie is complaining without doing research, or he's just blatantly lying.

Given the past week and a half, this is par for the course.

Oh he just keeps posted crap over and over again. Then gets sulky when people are "rude" to him.

At this point we might as well just reply to him in Last Jedi Luke memes.

By now I think most of the forum gets that you're not happy about the 2.0 conversion process but do you think you could cut out the blatant misinformation and rampant, negative speculation? Everything you've written there is either misleading, speculation or flat-out wrong. You're entitled to whatever views you want to hold but when a new member comes along asking for help and information maybe stick to the facts?

To answer the OP's question in case this little derailment has caused confusion, you get the dials listed above and you get copies of every pilot card for all the new pilots in the game, except those in the new Core set. You'll also receive a complete set of upgrade cards covering everything released in the first wave - possibly more, though we don't know the full details yet. There's a little bit of debate about whether you'll be able to fly any combination of ships with the conversion kits, especially if you want to fly multiple generics. We don't know if you'll get all the cardboard inserts to fly 4 generic Headhunters, for example. Any current pilot who is also in 2.0 will be in the conversion packs. Abilities may have changed. Also, some pilots seem to have been removed but it also seems like unique ones have been replaced with new counterparts.

You won't need to buy the individual ships released in Wave 1 just to get the cards if you bought that faction's conversion pack as they will all be included in the conversion packs.

That's not a new strategy. That's business as usual.

I am very curious about the cardboard only expansions for future waves that have been discussed but not really confirmed.

If you are a single product collector like myself then this is how the conversion kits line up

+1 – A-wing
+1 – ARC-170
+1 – Auzituck Gunship
0 – B-wing
+1 – E-wing
+1 – Ghost
+1 – HWK-290
+1 – K-wing
0 – Millennium Falcon
+1 – Phantom I
+1 – Phantom II
+1 – Sabine’s TIE Fighter
+1 – U-wing
-1 – X-wing
0 – Y-wing
+1 – YT-2400
+1 – Z-95 Headhunter

+2 – Alpha -class Star Wing
+2 – Inquisitor’s TIE
+1 – Lambda -class Shuttle
0 – TIE Advanced
+2 – TIE Aggressor
+1 – TIE Bomber
0 – TIE Defender
-1 – TIE Fighter
0 – TIE Interceptor
+1 – TIE Phantom
+1 – TIE Punisher
+2 – TIE Striker
+1 – VT-49 Decimator

+1 – Hound’s Tooth
+1 – HWK-290
+1 – IG-2000
0 – Kihraxz Fighter
+1 – Kimogila Fighter
+2 – M3-A Interceptor
+1 – Mist Hunter
+2 – Protectorate Starfighter
+1 – Punishing One
+1 – Quadjumper
+1 – Scurrg H-6 Bomber
+1 – Shadow Caster
+1 – Slave I
0 – StarViper
0 – Y-wing
+1 – Z-95 Headhunter

Surely the conversion kits have to cover the entire collection at a bare minimum and any extras are convenient.

I have bought through core sets and expansion packs 3x T65 X-Wings. Core Set, X-Wing Expansion pack and Rebel Transport.

But they are only providing 2 bases and 2 dials.

Similarly I have 5x Tie fighters: Core Set, Tie Expansion and Gozanti. Yet only 4 bases and 4 dials.

It cannot be that they are excluding Epic ship expansions as Jek Porkins has been featured in 2.0 games. Alex Davy flew him in his squad against Zach.

I don't believe they need to provide enough for 8x tie fighter squads, although I am sure that some would say so, BUT SURELY THE BARE MINIMUM!
