Battlelore Medieval expansion?

By El Mikel, in Battlelore

Having announced the (much welcome) Goblin army for BL, all of the chat has been about possible forthcoming Fantasy Expansion, which I shall look forward to enjoying (plus keep pushing for Orc charioteers sonrojado.gif )

But

Whilst in Europe, we're fighting the Hundred Years War (although a few years got added on for injury time sorpresa.gif ), Tamerlane was having a reign of terror throughout Persia, Turkey and India. It was also a great period of C astle Building .

So - open question to FF; (yes I know you can't do everything at once - but) is Battlelore going to concentrate solely on the Fantasy side for a while or is history likely to be a part of its future?

cheers

I'll second the idea...I would love more medieval history units for Battlelore...anything would do. Unfortunately, I got into Battlelore late and missed the Hundred Years War expansion. I keep hearing it will be re-released, but when? It's taking forever. Maybe FFG could releasea a Medieval Warfare expansion like the new Goblin Hoardes Expansion, that contains Hundred Years War units and some basic units, along with some new units, such as sappers, ladder men, seige towers, ballista, etc. for storming ramparts...that would be sweet!

I can imagine FFG releasing a Dwarf expansion to match the Goblin one, and potentially a Human expansion as well. It would be interesting if the human expansion maintained the ability to bridge between the fantasy and the history. Personally if FFG do release a human expansion I wouldn't be surprised if it focussed on the fantasy aspect of BL... Time will tell I suppose!

A seige set would be excellent fun though!

Cheers,

Giles.

Hundred Years War is still available in some online gaming stores if you look hard enough. Often times the problem is shipping costs, but it is still available depending on how desperate you are. Same goes for pretty much every expansion released so far, except for the hill Giant Promo figure.

Giles - I'd like some siege engines too - I have a particular fondness for Goblin DoomDivers (whoops wrong manufacturer preocupado.gif ), but I'm not so sure about an actual castle siege, 'cos unless the walls extended across each section, the games would not play correctly sorpresa.gif

I think medieval sieges are interesting too, but I don't know if it'd be a good fit for Battlelore. I think I'll stick with Stronghold for my boardgame siege needs. happy.gif

an idea i had for castles was for it to be made from double sided hex overlays

one side with the wall intact the other with the wall damaged

so when the hex overlay is removed the enemy forces could pour in

yay

While we're on the subject of the 'Hundred Years War' expansion; It comes with spears, halberds etc, but none of these appear in the set up stats for the scenarios that come with it (Crecy etc) so when do you use them?

Really ?

just looking at the first 3 scenarios..

Crecy.. uses arbalasts

Poitiers - uses spears, halbards and arbalasts.

cocherel - uses hornblowers etc

suggest you look at the maps again.

I like it! Don't know that FFG will ever go this route but it is a good idea.

Quite right, well thats an embarassing 'oops'.
