I've seen vague mentions of some form of quick build cards in 2nd Edition. Have we learned any actual details about this? I see the occasional card in a few of the images coming out of FFG, but the ones I've seen are in a "collage" of cards so usually half (or more) hidden from view. Are these in the conversion kits? Core set only? Only "new" product moving forward?

They are definitely in the core set and the ship expansions. I am not sure if they are in the conversion packs I would assume so. I am excited for them because I think they will be great for new players.

Here is what i know

• Quick-build uses pre-build ships and gives them a "thread level" of 1-5
• they come with the blister and will probably also be in the conversion-kits.
• they only use cards from there respective blister and the core-set
• When playing you agree and a tread-level and fill your list out accordingly. TL 8 is roughly the equivalent of a 200 point game
• There are ideas to use them for a draft format, but nothing concrete jet

I'm pretty sure those are going to be ignored by the majority of experienced players, as they seem to be designed for new players or for use in release events or something like that.

I don’t know about that, I’m willing to bet that we’ll see some creative applications and formats that come from the quick build cards. I mean sure I don’t expect them to ever replace the standard format, but I get the feeling that 2.0 will be much more accommodating of alternate formats and these quick-build cards will be part of that.

I run local tournaments and I already know I will be running some quick build tournaments.

Simply set a threat level and you build your list to that using the quick builds.

I just hope some effort is put into making these quick builds balanced. In my experience, the vast majority of pre-built stuff in games is pretty much terrible.
