B-Wing 2.0 idea!

By Kehl_Aecea, in X-Wing

The X-wing has its s-foils, sure, and while the B-wing does as well and as much as I'd love for it to get the s-foil treatment, give it it's own unique gimmick.

Give the B-Wing its gyroscopic cockpit!

Okay, so what if it has a completely different style front arc where it has two offset bullseye arcs where if the ship is positioned horizontally and the cannons at the end of the main wing are in one of those arcs that lines up with an enemy ship, you get an extra red die or maybe it can have an ionization effect. Save some points by having an ion cannon baked into the ship if the correct conditions are met. This could leave the cannon slot open for Linked Batteries or some other cannon option

The ship shouldn't be as fast as an X-wing but it should have at least 2 defense dice. To offset the baked in ion effect, the dial changes depending on its orientation! So, if the ship is vertical (cockpit on top, main wing pointing down or vice versa), it doesn't get the ion effect and the dial is exactly how its shown. If the cockpit is to the left, all left turns become easier, right turns harder, and its firing arc ends at the right most edge of the base (where that side's bullseye arc ends) and just reverse directions when the cockpit is on the right!

Ship rotation would be a white single action or a red action if part of an action chain.

I feel like this would really make the B-wing very unique since no other ship I can think of shares this mechanic. ****, the unique pilot skills could really be varied and fun with this!

Edit- to keep this mechanic compatible with the existing models, have a cardboard token that you rotate to represent the ship's orientation (also useful for those times this new hypothetical B-Wing model is stuck in the middle of a pile up)

Many fan made Giro B Wing stuff out there. And VERY good ideas. Like allowing Barrel Rolld if you are under 1 or 2 stress tokens.

Looks like all we know so far is that it gets a built in barrel roll after a focus action. And there’s something in the Rebel faction that gets a backwards one. I think it’s likely the b-wing. Not sure what else would have the backwards movement besides maybe the HWK.

That's the sheathipede dial.

Ahhh. Curious.

I am pretty sure that the B-Wing is done already. No point to make suggestions now for it. Except you want to see it in the new Aces of the Rebellion expansion. ?

I mean, yeah, I figured everything is done, but a boy can dream, can't he?!

B-wings get the new 2.0 PTL-esque ability to Focus and barrel roll in a single action, in exchange for a stress.

Not a bad representation of 'built to do this', all told. Real question is what the dial looks like, now.
