The 2.0 Boba Fett Crew is super cool!

By Wookiee_Slayer, in X-Wing

So in 2 different pictures/images, we see different parts of the Boba Fett crew card for Xwing 2nd:

swz01_a2_scum_spread.pngswz13_a3_slave-1_spread2.png

If we engage our Bounty Hunter Detective Common Logic protocols we can conduct that the card reads:

Setup: Start in reserve

At the start of the Setup, place yourself at range 0 of an obstacle token and beyond range 3 of an enemy ship.

So FFG is going for the thematic reprensentation of this iconic moment:

So what do you guys hope FFG will squeeze into the game? Do you like this new card or do you prefer old Boba?

Also let me know what tactics you would use if this card was in 1.0!

It's start in Reserve, not Reverse.

Haha thanks, I edited this! I got a little carried away with the thematic part and my excitement for that! Great observing!

I think both have different merits, though many of the cards I want to old 1.0 Boba crew off are gone entirely so not as big a deal it’s not present in 2.0

I don't know about putting him in a potentially compromised position

what if he dies? he's worth a lot to me

Looks very cool. Starting in reserve seems like it might be a wider thing than just Boba, and I can see it being actually USEFUL when it happens after setup, and doesn't cost an entire pilot ability like TFA Han.

His point cost will compensate you if he dies.

What does start in reserve mean?

From what we’ve seen, it just means you aren’t deployed in the normal deployment in-initiative order.

Well I think it is a new mechanic, this is just speculation by the way, which involves the player setting apart a ship and entering that ship in a later round... Perhaps Hyperspace could become a thing!

There was definitely something in one of the previews (a template that was sort of triangular with a blank, a focus, and an eyeball on the points) which looked like it could be a hyperspace template (i.e. put it where you want the ship to be, roll a die, it arrives there), and I know I heard one of the devs mention that they were keen to do something like that.

I would do so too if I ever played FS31, maybe when the expansion comes out :P

I think this is just something to simulate more ships for the starter box. At least they mentioned it in a video. If a ship gets destroyes, another one emerges out of hyperspace to keep up the fight. I dont think they will bring that mechanic into deathmatch.

OH MAN! I would be so stoked if that happens, is there a way you could share that post/stream/time-link with us?

that makes sense but you I was initially more refering to perhaps a modification-upgrade

something along the lines of:

'Advanced Hyperdrive'

Setup: start in reserve

Place your ship withing range 1 of the border of the gaming area, closest to an allied ship.

Yep, that´s a possibility. In one of the videos they mentioned "new Han-like" Abilities to be implemented.

I dig the thematic feel. This and Han’s pilot ability really hit the mark.

It probably means you would deploy from the other player's side of the table.

But what if I *want* disintegrations?

No, it probably means you don't start in play at all during setup, and get placed after setup, like the card says ;)

Oh thanks, I assumed that it said "reverse" not "reserve". Silly me

oh i get it, its END of teh setup phase. So he places last, period.

On a related note, it sounds like seismic charges are more thematic now too.

They work more like seismic torpedoes blowing up obstacles to do damage.

Yeah, its a better version of Resistance Han. You don't have to worry about taking VI and a bid to place last. I kind of wish it was an ability that was tacked on to Boba Fett pilot. If Emon Azzameen does the same thing he does in 1.0, that could be a pretty awesome combo. Turn 1 you could be getting bombs to deal with.

I'm glad they are messing with the setup phase. Its something they sort of tried to do in 1.0, but never really made it worthwhile.
