Xwing and my attempt at a rpg style game variant

By The captn, in X-Wing

Been looking through the missions that ffg has given us and alot of the community content as well and decided to run a series of missions in a rpg style format. Non unique pilots of ot or similat era cannon. Small bases only. As our basics for the first mission. I've got a group of 5 or 6 wanting to give it a shot. Since this group is small band of friends thats just trying to survive the galaxy.

Won't be messing around much with the overall ship. I'm replacing pilot skill with an initiatives roll. Since this basically becomes a 5v1 or 6v1 I get to have fun with my squads. Points won't matter and upgrades are limited to what they can recover after the battle. They can eventually take over a space station, epic ship, and add more to the squad. Follow along as we experiment and learn what is a fun variant on a game we love(to hate) so much.

Are you familiar with Heros of the Aturi Cluster?

I have been using the new Star Wars RPG to do this. We setup each ship combat mission as a small scenario and use the different skills to affect startup. If the the players are attacking, they make a Stealth roll against the defenders Perception with a bonus/penalty to the roll based on upgrades. When defending, the rolls are reversed. Then they roll for initiative, using Dexterity with a bonus/penalty based on squad costs. Pilot skill is based on ranks of Piloting + Dexterity attribute. X-Wing combat as normal with a few minor house rules.
