Custom Investigator Poet

By Apotropaic, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Hello,

I'm relatively new to the game, and was wondering if I could get any input on an idea I had for an investigator.

Haven't been able to run him through any scenarios yet, but figured I'd post the idea and see if anyone shows interest.

I really wanted an investigator who is managing to balance his sanity somehow to gain some sort of advantage. I hope to test it soon, and am open to any criticisms.

I like what you are trying to do, but I'm concerned about the ease at which you can reduce doom.

Doom is essential to the difficulty balancing of a scenario and I see you've taken steps to limit the impact this investigator can have by making the horror taken be direct horror. The biggest problem for me is that the combo of doom removal plus full access to seeker cards is extremely potent. Seekers primarily are used to give your tempo in a scenario an uptick and then to also slow the tempo of the agenda on top of that is a bit worrying.

If the signature card is meant to be used as an asset with an action that moves doom from the agenda to your investigator for 2 horror (not direct) that seems too potent. Seekers have access to very cheap allies like the Art Student that can soak that damage very easily. Edgar could easily lock the agenda out of advancing at all.

Playing with doom a bit could be interesting, but on this level, I'm worried it would cause some big issues or make the game very easy. Pair him with Carolyn Fern or build his deck with a couple clarity of minds, and I think this is too much.

Seconding what has already been said, I do have a couple more criticisms I would like to share.

With his abilities dealing with horror and doom, switch the health and sanity values. Otherwise, he would go insane that much faster.

In order to discard the signature weakness, either make it "spend one action to test," or "spend 2 actions to discard". Resources are worth their weight in silver, but actions are worth their weight in gold.
