Battle?

By Maggotbrain, in Runewars

Just want to make sure I'm doing this right. Page 21 of the rule book states that " the term battle refers to anytime units are fighting." So .....

1) Undefended homelands (aka no units present) taken by a mobilize or a conquer are not considered battles.

2) Strongholds (with no units present) taken by a mobilize or a conquer are not considered battles and therefor do not add their strength.

3) No units = No battle

So on a mobilize you trash someones army on the edge of their homeland giving you 5 runes, then on your supremacy bonus you move into their undefended homeland from an unactivated area taking your 6th rune you win the game. legit?

You'd think so, wouldn't you, based on the rules alone? However, answers to rules questions from Corey K and the Official FAQ itself say just the opposite.

#1 answer is "No". This is answer if found in this terrific document compiled by Sigmazero13. All of these anwers are from Corey K:

#2 answer is "No'. This is answered in the official FAQ:

#3 Answer is "No".

This last question is also "No", since this would involve two "battles", even though the second appears to be merely a "reconaissance in force".

TK

All of which can make it a very slow process to compleatly eliminate a player, even if they are the Elf with only 2 food resources.

But on the plus side:-

Tthe Undead-necromancers get to draw cards (and create revenanats) for those battles even if there are no defending troops.

And the game is specifically designed to not favour player-elimination as a strategy.

And Daqan Knights could possibly draw Tactics Cards, too.

wow I'm glad I asked, thanks everyone.
