Snowtroopers

By VAYASAN, in Painting

Well, Endor really...but it does feel bit chilly, so gear up men!

Had to put hem on grass to match my other forces...but was such a shame, love the models and so wanted to put them on snow bases and do the sculpts justice.

How did you get them? Thought Snowtroopers don’t come out till the 10th?

They are already out in Europe.

Very nicely done sir

Not my paint job sadly. I have a core set of stormies to complete before I steal this paint scheme idea ?

They look awesome. What paints did you use?

Yeah, the wash came out really nice. Please do tell the wash formula.

....nicely completed sir........ painting skill level 10 [Jedi] ...... your STORMIES are amazing...

As with my normal stormtroopers I base coated in Corax White Spray (a very light grey/white) and then followed up with light spray of Tamiya (pure I think its called) white from a 45degree angle, to brighten up the white on raised areas.

The fore the Snowtroopers, the yellowy/cloth areas are a simple application of Seraphim Sepia Wash...which had to be thinned down quite a bit with Lahmian medium. IMO try leave the highest raised areas white if you can, especially on the cloak. Start in the cloaks grooves and then work up and try avoid the main raised area leaving it white.

If your wash is thinned enough ith enough Lahmian Medium, the wash should run into the grooves etc and leave the raised areas showing the basecoat through the wash, giving a highlight effect.

Quick and imo pretty effective. I was actually just about to paint the yello areas Bone colour and then wash and highlight, had the pot open etc....when I suddenly thought.hmmm, wonder if a light wash would look good.

I also thinned some nuln oil(quite a lot ) to wash some of the white areas. Again if its thin enoughm raised areas should remain nice and light.

With arms on, I assume?

If so, any fiddly access problems?

I paind everything glued together. always have as for me I find it easier, so imo its no problem.

Looking at it away from my personal opinion...I think on there there isnt a great amount of detail hidden really to get at so it s fine to glue then paint imo. Possibly only the flame thrower from memory that has some bits hidden/hard to get at after gluing.

That is a very nice affect for just a wash. Thanks for sharing.

wonderful method! Just finished my own in this style.

I'll be updating my own thread with them soon (Permit Painting), waiting on some glue to dry.

Nice scheme. Well done.
