"Stop your crying"

By AceWing, in X-Wing

This is how all of us who didn't have problems with the mechanics in 1.0 felt every time someone started crying for nerfs before.

I'm most likely getting everything for 2.0 because I won't have to pay any cash to buy-in (I have a lot of store credit) and I still love the core mechanics of the game. One of the reasons I rarely had issues with 1.0 is because I'll play anything. I don't even care if the game is branded Star Wars. I just like the game.

I sympathize with both sides because there are, of course, real issues with this change. It's really very simple. Those of us who liked 1.0 just fine are getting taxed to play a game we don't think needed much fixing. Those of you who are getting most everything you cried about for all these years are rejoicing. For those telling others to stop crying, realize we were saying the same thing to you weeks ago for incessantly crying. A bit of perspective would go a long way to keeping the community from fracturing.

Also, to all parties, I get the frustration but, once you've said what you want to say, there's not much point in saying it again and again and again and....

And with exceptions those arguing that the game was fine were in some cases VERY rude. So some of them had this coming. You can eventually come around that v2 is tolerable but for years the v1 haters were sol. It is what it is but good post acewing.

I posted this because I can't remember Darth Meanie being very rude but he seems to be getting a lot of flack because he's been put in a **** position and people are basically calling him a baby, idiot, and things of this nature.

TLDR; leave Darth Meanie alone.

DM is a good guy, I like him and I think he can defend himself. That said, there are a-holes on both sides so true statement there.

Thanks @AceWing . You OP was one last thing I haven't said because I don't want to keep stirring the pot. But I will say that I advocated for the Epic subthread to have a place away from years of gripes about the state of the game.

And thanks, @LordFajubi . I may have been a bit of an ahole, but this does feel like breaking up. I don't know if I want to Make the Jump. I like 1.0 just fine, and I truly wonder if 2.0 will have the same issues after 2-3 years of development. And while it's true that I can just play 1.0 forever. . .

I can no longer go to GenCon and play for the weekend. Last year was the first time I did that.

I can no longer theory craft cards and have fun working the kinks out on the boards because I won't know the system.

My X-wing community will boil down to a membership of 1: my brother, who talked me into this collectible game after 13 years of saying "Not again."

So, that might seem like a whole lotta baggage over a dumb game, and some of you might be making little violin motions with your fingers by now.

But if I decide 2.0 isn't worth it, just know that even if you don't miss me, I'll miss you.

Just wanted to clarify @Darth Meanie I have never thought of you as an a-hole either pre or post 2.0 announce but there have been some doosies and I have made a comment here and there certainly pissing someone off, we’re human lol

Wish you the best if you leave brother but at least give it a look first, you might like v2. ?

What tax are you paying to play 1.0? As far as I can see, you can play 1.0 the same as always just the way you like it. This is the only problem I can't understand. People are upset something new is being released, but it effects the current game in no way whatsoever.

It will wipe out the 1.0 player base, so the handful that stick with 1.0 will have virtually no one to play with. Unless you have a very odd gaming group, your practical options are buy in to 2.0 or quit X-Wing.

People who play exclusively at home on their kitchen table with their family and friends are complaining about 2.0 on this forum, too. They are not affected by the extinction of 1.0 player base. They won't be able to expand their collection with official products any more, thats all.

You 2 might want to read all of what I wrote about participating the the larger community.

Mm... people who play exclusively on their kitchen and table with family and friends still need to buy in to 2.0 if they want to be able to add future new ship expansions into their home games. So that's why I'll buy into 2.0 even though it will cost me a lot. I want to be able to get Resistance TV show ships, Star Wars ep IX ships, clone wars era ships (if they do 'em), etc.

Sorry, if you feel that I insulted you. I did not refer to you in my comment, there are other home game players who complained, you are just one of them.

I am well aware of your participating, and I have nothing against you. But seriously man, you should really start trying not to take everything personal.

Hopefully there will be a community, who will create custom 1.0 version of the new ships.

eh. I have to buy the new-for-2.0 ships if I want to have new ships.

So it probably makes more sense in the long run to eat the one time conversion cost, rather than having to fiddle with scrounging up community-made 1.0 backdates for every new ship that gets released from now on.

I just wish each faction conversion kit was enough to cover a full squad of each ship.

I am not taking it personal. I tend to think that other folks are having similar feelings about being "left behind."

Some people don't want to convert. It might be financial, it might be perceived value, or it might be not wanting to start over. But not converting means saying goodbye.

I am trying to create some empathy for that group of people.

Can you repeat that please? I think there were some people who weren’t paying attention the first time.

Let's not drag politics into the main forum

That group of people definitely have my sympathy. I just don't agree with the statement that "not converting means goodbye", at least not for the home game casual players.

To those still wanting to play 1.0, which I will be doing since the group I play with will be doing the same, there is something to consider and look forward to.

When 2.0 comes out a lot of people upgrading will want to get rid of there 1.0 cards since they will not need them, cannot use them.

This means a lot of 1.0 cards and dials will become avalible at very low cost. Lots of people selling, not many buying.

In effect 1.0 players should be able to pick up all those cards they wanted for a very low cost.

Every cloud has that silver lining.
