CON-version kits

This is entirely delusional. I've been through many edition changes with many games, and while there's almost always a cost involved I've never seen players collections held to ransom like this before. You can push yourself through mental hoops about it being a new game if you want, but it doesn't change the facts:

I pay $90 and lose three quarters of my collection. To unlock my entire collection with official conversion kits would cost more than $400. Two Imperial kits, two rebel kits, a First Order kit, a Resistance kit, an Epic kit and a new Starter.

It's undeniably a barrier to entry. The cost of conversion is high, no matter how you justify it or what comparisons you draw. It's a lot of money. The sheer Volume of people upset about the price prove that a lot of people consider the price to be very high. It's rubbing people the wrong way.

You are right, as soon as you buy the new core set and 1 conversion kit FFG Shock troopers break into your house and set fire to the other 2/3rds of your collection.

People who are simply saying that $50 alone is enough to convert to the new edition haven’t really thought much about it.

There’s the cost for other kits if you play more factions plus the need for multiple kits if you play swarms. There’s also the need for a core set plus the need for the new medium base.

$40 core set

$300 for conversion kits for playing multiple factions and using more ships than the number of dials listed in the FAQ

$90 for a set of three medium bases (maybe just two but that depends on the medium ships)

$60-100 for the two new trilogy kits with a price fluctuation on the cheap of $30 to the $50 of the current ones

This is alot more money than that simple $50 people parade around.

Your numbers need fact checking and are not universally applicable.

While $40 for a core is right, $300 for conversion kits is very much a variable amount, especially with a second hand market.

$90 for a set of 3 medium bases is not mentioned anywhere as a product. You are assuming a price and assuming a need. Would you please provide data to support this claim?

The last expenditure is a little confusing. You call it the "new trilogy kits", which sounds like the TFA Core Set. If this is true, why do you need them for 2.0 if you didn't have them for 1.0? And why two?

If you have enough ships (like i do) to justify 2x conversion kits for each faction then you are already dropping that much cash on each wave release anyways.... just look at it like 13waves of ships for the cost of 1 wave.... its a steal of a deal.

It's not. It's invalidating my entire collection until I pay to unlock it. Potentially hundreds of dollars.

These kits really should be released as a free PDF for printing out; it's basically a box of cards and tokens for stuff you've already bought - printed onto sticker paper they could even be stuck over 1st ed existing tokens.

A poor move.

Con-version kits I see what you did there

you can still play 1.0.... its a miracle somehow you still have all your 1.0 content it's not magically destroyed.

As far as I know, you purchased ships not organized play.

Keep playing 1.0, at a massive cost of $0 to continue using your stuff.... if you want all the new stuff that FFG put time and money into I guess you should probably compensate them for it?

Sure. It's very expensive though.
