my collection to conversion kit #'s

By PanchoX1, in X-Wing

So, tonight, I went through all my OT ships and compared them to the conversion kits to see exactly how short or over I would be for my ships. I have about nine-ten expansions (including one epic and one "aces" pack) that I don't really Need/want and can sell/trade Along with lots of alt arts and probably some acrylic tokens. After that, I wont need any additional conversions for Scum and and only one for Rebels. One box each will be plenty with several extras for trading/selling: 7 kits for scum, 6 kits for rebels. Empire is a bit different in the other direction. I will have 3 spare kits but I'll need 6 more. I fully expect to be able to trade for what I need. I think the only kit that may be hard to acquire would be the one additional x-wing that I'll need but maybe not. Granted this is based on a new conversion for every single ship remaining in my collection, yeah, I'm one of those guys. A completest. So yeah, I'll be able to run 4 x-wings with the new core and the saw set but not 5. And depending on the new system, i may not even be able to run all my Imperial ships in groups with all the kits I need. Here's my breakdown:

Empire

Need Extras

1 Star Wing 1 T.A.P.

1 Tie Aggressor 1 Tie Phantom

1 Tie Defender 1 Tie Striker

1 Tie Fighter

2 Tie Interceptor

Scum

Need Extras

1 Kimogila

1 G-1A

1 Fang

2 Quadjumper

1 Syck

1 HWK

Rebel

Need Extras

1 X-Wing 1 E-wing

1 HWK

1 K-wing

1 Shethipede

1 U-Wing

1 YT-2400

Has anyone else gone through everything?

Just mentally. I think I'm over two Defenders, a B-Wing and an E-Wing. I primarily only got one of most ships, so I'm ahead on a good deal of ships. Might see who needs what in my play group and give off or trade my extras.

That’s my plan too. Lots of newish players there. Bound to be able to aquire that last x-wing kit

I'm over on Interceptors, Defenders, and Gunboats for sure as well as K-Wings, Khiraxz, and Starvipers. Will be over 1 X-Wing I think too but with 4 X-Wings from Saw's, Core, and Conversion I don't think I'm going to bother getting enough to run 5 X-Wings at once. Most everything else I have just 1-3x aside from TIEs but I don't have a driving need to run all my TIEs at once either. I'll be looking to pick up extra gunboat, interceptor, and defender dials and probably looking at trading away an extra ARC and maybe A-Wing away.

Mentally,

Rebz

Need: 2 Bs, a Y because I got scum Ys, and a K

Don't need: 4 zs, a VCX + Shuttle, a phantom 2, yt1300...

Impz

Need: 1 defender, 1 advance

Don't need: 2 TAPs, at least a tie fighter...will prob trade all their fickle asses off, 2 gressors, 2 decis, lmbda, a punisher...

Scum

Need: a SCURRG, a Y (one rebel Y)

Don't need: 1 kfighter, all the Kims, yv666s, igs, 1 g1-a...

It seems I'm getting a LOT of tradeable stuff

I tip the scales on every faction, I have impulse buying problems but $90 will do as a core and Imp conversion is all I need. I am not converting anything more until I see the new models. The models are what got me into this game and if the new ones are better I’ll be buying those to replace my fleet and going ham painting the old ones.

I may not be able to do it in a “Big Bang”, but my intent is one of each conversion + new core.

I will then be missing the components for 2x T65, 1x Tie fighter, and 1x Auzituck.

I am pretty sure I can do some wheeling and dealing with the locals to nab my tie fighter and Auzi. The t65s I’m a little worried about, but I will be able to bring two over, plus new core set plus the Renegade t65, so I should be fine with 4 in most cases.

I'm not even going to try to convert all of my ships at first. One kit per faction. If I need to spam eg my Kihraxzs, I'll borrow from my friends.

Then I will see how many more kits I need to run lists for epic tournaments once the epic conversion/rules are out. Meanwhile, all the extra ships can 'fly casual', possibly with stickers over their dials and ship tokens, in home games.

Looking forwards to the big changeover eagerly!

There are already suggestions being made in the UK to fly wave-restricted lists until September: starting with Wave 1 only and adding a Wave each week, simply as a farewell to V1. Whether that holds true in tournaments seems unlikely, but a lot of the 'win everything possible' mentality has disappeared for the time being....although certain others are keen to go out with a bang with Proton Bombs being scavenged for Nym/Miranda lists!

Would it be cool if we organized some kinda math trade in September? Where folks say “I want these dials/ships and can trade these surplus ones” and we let the computer tell us who is shipping what where to get everybody something closer to what they wanted?

Figure ffg still does great because we are all buying one or more conversion kits before swapping parts around.

i know a guy who organizes math trades for the gamers at my work - could ask him to show me the ropes and make it so in September if folks are interested and OK with covering their own shipping (may set up a couple due to international postage if we get folks across the pond interested)

Would it work to do a “North American trade” and a “Europe trade”? I don’t have the slightest idea what international postage looks like within Europe but I have an idea of sending things to Canada.
