How's the general mood at worlds ?

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing

Are things basically just a party this year with nobody really caring much about the results ?

Belly full of beer and looking forward to next year?

Idk, you could immortalize yourself as the last 1.0 world champ

Might be extra tryhard

So....everyone is redoubling their efforts?

Everyone I’ve talked to is really excited about 2.0.

the 1.0 enthusiasm is a bit more mixed, but not really negative - usually either positive or apathetic.

Everyone is super excited for 2e. The new design seems to be addressing basically everything anyone could have wanted, and the incredibly generous upgrade plans for current players are very welcome.

Competition-wise, the games have been great, and the people have been better. Lots of smiles and cheers all around. The *entire* room sang Happy Birthday (via wifi) to a young lad who wasn't able to attend with his dad. Happy birthday, Mason!

The overall attitude about this being the last 1e Worlds is just that of a celebration of a game we love. I haven't seen anyone being bitter/negative about it.

Overall, it's another event that just proves that meeting people from around the world and sharing stories and food and having a great time around a shared hobby is one of the best things in the world.

Relaxed I’ll bet for most; knowing that turret-wing now has an execution date makes looking the greasy bi*ch in the eye somewhat palatable again.
