Has anyone successfully used a trooper unit to create an objective screen? Thinking especially late game with enemy corps units making a push for an objective, moving into melee to engage them and tie them up. It would then take them one full activation to withdraw and if you're doing Recover the Supplies, another activation to move and to pick up the objective (assuming they are within a single speed-1 move and not suppressed). That makes this a very viable strategy for Rounds 4-6 if you have the lead and can spare a trooper unit to start the melee, especially if you have a lower-strength or minimal trooper unit without extras.

Certainly a great tactic! I did something conceptually similar. It was the last turn of the game and I wasn't in a position to take the objective. So I double-moved into the objective and surrounded it with my minis, leaving no room for my opponent to grab it either. If I remember correctly, evenly spacing 4 minis around is enough to deny any room for a 5th.

You know, despite titling my post Melee Blocking, I didn't even think of just using a line as a deterrent to prevent movement (without starting melee). Only downside is that you can still be "cleared out" by other units, either by fire or displacement. Being in melee is such a source of security (unless there's a lightsaber involved).

speaking about lightsaber wielders...force push makes it so you just wasted an activation instead of the opponent.

Absolutely. Always be aware of the enemy's Force Push status and range! It also does great work protecting objectives and causing unintended melees.
Oh for sure, it's a highly situational tactic. Getting into melee is a far superior blocking method, generally speaking. It's always good to keep your eyes open for these edge-case scenarios. The concept of blocking didn't even cross my mind until I was in that moment, for example. It's always exciting when you realize some wacky tactic you can take when the odds are against you, isn't it? ![]()

That is the real key. play the mission above all else.

I feel like there's a quote for this...?
Edited by Big EasyWithdrawing takes up both actions. You can't withdraw and then grab an objective.
Edit: ****** is a bad word? As in ****** and grab?

My Wheel of Fortune skills are failing me... ?
Yes, withdrawing takes your entire activation. I don't think I mentioned withdrawing and interacting with an objective in the same round?

Yes, it is a euphemism for female genitalia

Fair point, though still not the most common usage.
I think it's technically slang rather than a euphemism but that's splitting hairs.
Just keep in mind troopers don't actually block movement of other troopers (and can obviously be displaced by vehicles as well). If you had enough minis, you could probably fill all the necessary space, though.
I had a squad of stormtroopers that had been whittled down to just the leader and an HH-12 close to a Rebel ion group that was looking to shot at both my AT-ST and Veers.
The stormtroopers took one for the team and tied up the rebels long enough to make those two units less vulnerable.
Always remember your chess. Troopers are pawns. Also, I saw someone screw up scum by putting a space between the s and c. The editor had fun with that one.
Now I just want to know what the missing word was!

It’s also the name of an amusing heist movie involving a diamond that gets eaten by a dog, a gypsy boxer who won’t throw a match, and a gangster who keeps pigs...

Got it.
Always engage someone whose guns are better and more expensive than yours :/

Which has been dubbed over footage of Vader in episode IV for comedic effect.
I also noticed the other day that **** was blocked. Like "he'll". As in, that's one he'll of a pilot.
My opponent actually did it to himself the other day. Luke meleed into my troopers, but failed to kill them and couldn't withdraw to get to an objective.
