Scum Force users?

By K13R4N, in X-Wing

With the new Force abilities in 2.0 their will be many Rebel and imps who have this new ability but will scum just miss out on this? I know asajj is force sensitive but is that it?

If the force becomes a really powerful ability could scum become unplayable as others have the force?

Could they implement something that the majority of scum have but rebel and imps have little to balance things out?

Or will it not be that big a deal?

Any thoughts are welcome.

Eh, things like this are more about the valuation on individual ships and upgrade cards, not the faction as a whole. I'm pretty sure there will be some scum force users, but that'll basically to me work as a valuation thing on ships. I suspect Asajj will be a pilot with it and Maul will be a crew who can do something for it.

I get the feeling they're eventually, if not right away, going to develop some kind of upgrade that gives pilots a very minor Force pool, probably called "Force Sensitive" or something.

With how powerful the Force abilities may be, however, they might just limit it to actual force users in lore.

Zuckuss might have a Force value, and maybe the generic Gand Findsman if it also makes the jump to 2.0.

But they did say that part of the big appeal of 2.0 is making faction identities more distinct. And the Force might be part of that.

Assaj and Maul, of course. Also, it looks like calculate (droid tokens) seem similar to the force, so maybe that will be a deliberate design choice to distinguish factions.

After all, its the mandalorian way to fight force users via technology.

Aurra Sing, canon character with Legends force sensitivity. Also shown in canon piloting Slave 1 for a time.

Otherwise I got nothing past Maul & Asajj. Maybe Nightsisters as a crew slot tops.

Asajj, Maul, Zuckuss are sure bets, Aurra Sing is likely, maybe we'll get Savage Opress, etc.

Honestly I feel like there are a higher number of likely options than for Empire.

We know Empire has Vader, Palp, the Inquisitor and also a force sensitive generic inquisitor.

Maybe with 2.0, scum pilots/upgrades will have illicit traits that require them to spend illicit tokens to perform them. While recovering an illicit token whenever they deal damage to another ship. This would be a nice twist on scummy reputations and collecting bounties.

Did he ever use the force? ? ? ?

Just googled it and gands (Zuckasses Species) is force sensitive according to wiki " The findsmen were a Force-sensitive —though the findsmen themselves claimed that their abilities did not stem from the Force [3] —religious tradition of bounty hunters unique to the Gand species "

Interesting....

Perhaps R5-D4, Skippy the Jedi droid. Prior to joining the Rebellion, of course.

The ability to use the force is insignificant, next to the power of the glitterstim

Hopefully not... otherwise they will dilute factional identity.

Not every faction needs nor should have the same abilities. Gimme my illicit stuff rather than pokey force powers :)

Mara Jade would also be an option for Scum/Imperials

Kyle Katarn ?

There is the fluff and then there is the game mechanic. `Fluff wise, Rebels and Imperials may have more force users. Mechanics wise, the force is:

- A ressource that you can spend in more than one way.

- Which recharges at least once per turn.

Luke and Vader both have the force, but aside from the generic use of it to modify dice, they are used quite differently (Vader to give multiple actions, Luke to always have something available on defense). While they both stem from a similiar source, it could almost be a different ressource altogether. Additonal upgrades that may or may not be shared between factions could further diffentiate it.

This does not preclude that they may introduce other mechanics that can accomplish similar results, but work differently. I am looking at the "calculte" tokens of the droids, amongst other things (which scum have plenty of thanks to the IG-88).

Nightsisters and Mother Talzin as well.

Pretty much what I was about to write.

Scum will almost certainly have their own mechanics which will achieve similar results.

I was initially concerned that they'd just put a bunch of different names on a few core mechanics in order to differentiate between factions. Basically, we can all focus but so that things have 'character', we'll call it force for one, calculate for another etc.

That to me would be the exact opposite of streamlining. 40k did a similar thing with 8th ed, in which some things work exactly the same as others but are packaged differently for.... well, fluff. I find it a bit irritating.

Seems to me there is more of a difference in how these things will work for X Wing. So hopefully, each of these new mechanics will make sense, have distinct identities, and still be balanced against each other whilst remaining fairly simple to use.

Edited the post. More meaning higher number. For Empire there are a handful max.

They could theoretically through this guy in a Starviper or another Black Sun fighter, assuming they'll still draw plenty from non-canon sources.

Maybe Maul will make an appearance.

I am fairly sure on one of the streams they said asaj has a force value of 1.

I have not heard of others but people in this thread have put out likely candidates.

The Rebels force users:

Luke

Kanan

Ezra

Imperials:

Vader

Palp

Inquisitor

Generic Inquisitor

Scum:

Maul

Assajj

Resistance:

Rey

First order:

Kylo Ren
