2.0 Did Me a Favor

By LifeGain, in X-Wing

I was excited to see that they announced that they were making a 2.0, but then I saw the conversion packs and their cost. I thought to myself...crap, this is gonna be expensive. I have been thinking about it since the announcement and I have fluctuated between jumping in and not (and my posts reflect that). Keep in mind, I think 2.0 was the correct move. Recently, I have been thinking that the price of the conversion is a blessing in disguise. I used to buy all 3 factions and that was a considerable amount of money. With the conversion kits, it has made me rethink this and I have now begun to think of just playing one or two factions. I have come to realize that I do not need to convert EVERY ship to 2.0 since the conversion kits will cover the max amount. Plus, I can sell off the faction I will decide to not main and put that towards 2.0. In the long run, this will also keep me from having to have every ship released for each faction, and even some waves will likely be breaks. These are interesting times.

Plus, its Star Wars daggonit. It's hard to stay away.

They also said that cross-buying will no longer be necessary. So stinking to a single faction can work out fine.

Yeah, I've considered this as well. The thought of picking one or two factions makes me sadf, but then when they add Resistance and FO, it's going to be 5 factions, and that's just going to be too much.

Yup! I'm starting off with one conversion kit and may expand from there.

This will be an improvement for me, because my current playstyle is to stink at all three factions.

Great play on words, intended or not. :)

I stink at all the factions, so only stinking at one will really improve my game

EDIT: That guy above me ...

been specializing in Rebels since i got into X-Wing and as second edition kits costs i am glad i did so and it even lets me field some units i have wanted to try for a while but not grabbed the expansion for namely the Rebel TIE

This is the sign I needed to switch to just Imperial and FO/Resistance (hoping they're together in one pack) as I now have no need to buy non-Imperial ships.

I actually recently sold all of my Empire and Rebel stuff and only kept Scum, mostly because I just don't have time to play with all those ships anyway. Fact is, I'd never have enough time to get in enough games just to experiment with all of the Scum list variations I find interesting.

This news is actually a pretty major quality of life improvement for me in terms of both game play and how I acquire components. Huge win.

Same here. rebel kit + Core for me. I may pick up an imperial kit down the road, but I have pretty much always been a rebel player

I was a bit annoyed that they didn't include the Resistance and First Order in the conversion packs... at first.

Now, after thinking it a bit further, and considering that they said that no cross faction buying will be needed anymore, it results to be a blessing for me.
I have not been interested at all on the Sequel Trilogy stuff: the movies don't work for me, and the ships... I just dislike in general.

Now I can focus on collecting my Rebels and Imperials without feeling bad about not buying the Resistance and FO stuff! I am not gimping myself for not playing with Quickdraw or Rey.
Thanks, FFG! Much appreciated. :D

Yep, I like the no cross-faction thing a lot too. No need to buy multiple k-wings because I need a TLT or some other upgrade. I have rarely ever played Rebels in years except in epic. I have a single concern, however, will conversion kits always be available or will they eventually fade out? Since I don't plan to sell my collection, it stands to reason that I should get the kits that I want to play when they come out, but maybe ask for the others at Christmas.
