Unless it’s no longer viable to spam one ship type, a lesson they learned for Armada and Legion. I doubt the devs want to return to the “bad old days” of TIE Swarms as they did so much to kill it in 1.0.

All you really need are additional dials.

Can't see the Tie/ln dial changing much (I guess they might get a sloop? In which case just use the Tie/FO dial and consult the real one for colours/modify it), and proxying pilot cards/ship markers if you need to shouldn't be hard either. If you go to a tournament, I find it very hard to believe none of your friends won't have any spare Ties. Or ****, buy/trade with another persons core-set ships! So many options...

Now us Mono-Scum players... We get the rawest deal. But I don't actually mind it that much, because I've wanted a new edition for a long time and I've been in this hobby for long enough to realize this is how it works.
