My retailer said they would be getting some form of support to help folks with the odds and ends of x-wing dial and token conversions.

we already have trading as a possibility. So I’m wondering what if we all just left our extra generic conversion kit stuff at our LGS In a sort of take a penny leave a penny system.

Are we cool enough to make something like that work? Or would it be best to get more formal?

I'd say most people in the community are cool enough to do something like that, but it only takes one bad egg to bring the system down. I'd suggest something slightly more formal, even if it was just one of the staff members at your FLGS monitoring it enough to be sure that someone leaves 1 dial before taking 1 out.

The problem is there are always dials in high demand and those in low demand. The dials sitting in the "to take" pile will be the low demand ones. It looks like one conversion kit will cover you for most lists.

I suspect this is right. There are definitely going to be some people with imbalances, but you're probably better off arranging trades between individuals, rather than a central box type thing.
