Soontir Fel

By Darth evil, in X-Wing

Well the title wouldn't be a fix card anymore, but the Royal Guard Interceptors had increased maneuverability, a hyperdrive, and shields. An option to upgrade the chassis with more blue maneuvers and a shield wouldn't be an autoinclude.

I wonder if they build that into the pilot cards for the RG's, Carnor and Kanos.

Bah finally watched the demo video and actions are still tied to move.

I imagine most of the non-unique titles are going to be converted into the new "configurations" cards, which the S-foils are for the X-wing. Those that aren't just added on as a default, that is.

I remember Fel at the height of his power. He is going to be just fine.

Little annoyed they toned down Soontir while Wedge doesn't need a bullseye.

You dont get it.

How do you kill soontier? You block him.

If soontier is blocked, is there an enemy in his bullseye arc? 90% of the time, YES, the blocker is right there!

Soonier gets focus when blocked!

A valid point. This should make Fel much more forgiving of mistakes.

You guys think the Royal Guard title will come back? Perhaps with some extra maneuverability and a shield?

Looks like they might only be doing unique titles, with generic titles and other fixes being baked into the pilot card or reworked into configurations or something. The original titles for Millennium Falcon and Slave 1 illustrate the original intent which is probably what FFG is trying to get back to.

Have they mentioned using the configuration cards for things like this? So far all they've talked about is using it for the flappy bits on rebel ships.

We know titles still exist, as per the Firespray spread. I believe configurations and titles are separate. I think they will keep titles as unique, to provide a unique specialty to a ship.

Or you just shoot at him with proton torpedoes Wedge.

2 dice defense. Best case scenario, focus evade. And it puts the burden on defense on Soontir's positioning.

Wedge can basically one shot him.

I really hope the interceptor cost WAAAY less than an X-Wing. If Wedge is 60 points, I want Soontir to be 45.

So hyped to Have Soontir Fel back, and in an even more engaging and fun way.

This. Soontir has lost his ability to something more situational, can't focus evade, autothrusters are gone, and we don't know how stealth device will work. On top of them saying he will cost significantly more than other Interceptors.

I doubt his cost is warranted.

SD has 1 charge, while you have it, you roll 1 additional defense dice.

If you are hit, the charge is removed.

Soontir Fel: Initiative 6. If an enemy ship is in bullseye arc at the beginning of the Engagement Phase, gain a focus token.

Autothrusters: Can do a red linked barrel roll or boost (it would be awesome if ships could do the same action more than once, but more likely not and it will be as close as PTL as we get).

The interceptor's flavor is its repositioning. Most imperial ships have abilities to reflect their specialization, so they are good against bombs and fixed arc clumsy ships. Soontir will be good against turrets because of high ps repositioning, but the rest won't be as good against turrets. With ordnance being stronger, you don't really want to joust missile or torpedo users, but flank.

Knowing its full ability, I think it is not as strong as 1.0 in its glory but also not as bad as I initially thought (I thought it was the same as 1.0 but with bullseye requirement). Interceptors are more viable because bombs are more predictable, and his ability is good as long as you chase another ship. It is easier to get bullseye if you are closer to the enemies, so just chase and reposition at high ps to try to keep bullseye.

If you fly Soontir chasing dead on all the time, it will be a pseudo force user. When Soontir is not chasing, he wants to arc dodge (again at high ps), just without the defensive stack of old. He is definitely in a better position in 2.0 than he is right now, and likely popular at launch.

Overall, I am happy how Soontir turned out (far stronger than the average interceptor). Darth Vader has an even better PTL, but no boost. Harder to kill in arc, but Soontir is better to get out of arc altogether. Conclusion: Soontir will be the best or one of the best arc dodgers and chasers. The design really wants you to have Soontir play cat and mouse (and dog, because you don't want anyone to have arc on you).

One thing I'm thinking with Soontir (and really any Interceptors) is that with PTL lite baked in, the EPT is free, which potentially opens up a useful slot that wasn't available before. So Fel, for example, can also get Predator and have a Focus+Reroll on someone in arc. Since we don't know points, any real conjecture is very limited, but we should be prepared to look at the Interceptor as an almost entirely new ship.

man, if we get anything more annoying than Ellusive, we're going to have a **** of a time killing Fel

I'm sooo looking forward to the new and improved Interceptor.

Elusive + Afterburners + Stealth Device should be fun depending on the red on the dial.

Why afterburners? He has boost

Afterburners is a free action and works after a red maneuver.

Free action after speed 3-5 maneuver without bump, if memory serves.

Do we know they have a second mod slot for that?

Don’t know if they’ve had any quick play cards for Interceptors spoiled yet. But the current pattern is to bake in fixes, so I’d bet they’ll have two mods. But admittedly this is just conjecture.

Sounds like afterburners are almost a must, doing a k-turn and adjusting afterwards with a boost your alignment with perfect board knowledge. Sweet and get that bullseye arc for the focus token on top.

Kinda hoping Stealth Device goes the way of Harpoons and TLT.

They said TIEs get two mod slots, and we know both the LN and AD get two.
