Soontir Fel

By Darth evil, in X-Wing

I have sort of a "theory of all" for X-Wing.

The developer play Rebels, has a girlfriend that plays Scum, but he knows that she cheated on him with a guy that plays Imperials.

Jup, I am looking forward to 2-ship lists with two defenders. :D

If that list is Maarek Stele and Darth Vader Imma gonna weep true tears.

Why?

Given how fine everything looks so far, the theiry only works if the developer is a fan of ntr

I like how Fel's still an action monster but not in a 2 focus and evade every turn way. He looks like even more of a skill-based ship than he was previously.

Move > afterburners to boost>evade>link to barrel roll>get focus from ability.

Which looks nuts, but the limits on his ability and afterburners makes it more reasonable.

The nice thing is, high PS repositioning matters so much more now; the single most important change from Soontir's perspective is that with ships having rotatable arcs rather than just a flat 360' fire outside your arc, and action bombs and veteran instincts supposedly being a thing of the past, everyone now has a blind spot somewhere .

A PS6 ship with the autothrusters rule, is probably the single best candidate to reliably find it, and with his ability to snag a focus token whenever he boresights someone, even if blocked or stressed, he can actually use his full dial rather than being nailed to the interceptors (admittedly good) green moves in 1e.

Han Solo with Luke crew and Wedge.

Rebel super squad. If they fit in a list, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Full 360 arc, with full mods (full re roll and focus), and an xwing that shreds green dice. Proton torpedoes work with xfoils closed...

It's scary man.

Although... If any list should be overpowered from the Rebellion... I wouldn't mind if it was that one.

Fair enough. That does still have prerequisites, though:

  1. Han is at range 1 of an obstacle (without hitting it)
  2. Luke has a force token spare (I assume the card adds +1 force but does it also add the 'recharge'?)

Still, not entirely pleased about that.

I'm definitely concerned about that too, but there's a couple ways it could be okay.

1.) Appropriate cost.

2.) Lack of other capabilities.

The "full OG turret" thing requires a gunner slot to be filled and the proper position to be occupied on the board. It's still got a red boost, no hard 1s, and by all appearances no major defensive upgrades. In the worst case scenario, it's still a lot worse than the current iteration. But of course, points. We'll see.

Indeed. At the moment, packing luke means facing a sort-of-fully-modified shot and then another sort-of-fully-modified shot if you dodge the first one. If all taking luke does for you is provide the 360 degree arc that at the moment Han has anyway, it could be worse.

Luke does have the recharge triangle.

Darth Vader with the Intel Agent force power, Soontir Fel with Predator (doubling down on bullseye, ruining large base days), and a palpshuttle. Soont with an evade and palpfocus will last longer than you expect, while shooting back fully modified. And Vader with Sense is better with having first turn than wedge or han being forced to have first turn, in addition to his own multiaction flying.

Well Soontir is overpriced, he is entirely inferior to his brother in law and in a weaker ship but costs more. And it's so nice having 2 mod slots with like no mods to choose from.

You know what’s more scary? The same list without Luke crew and a better gunner for less.
