Medium bases potential issue

By Vontoothskie, in X-Wing

Practically everybody ate them up in my area. It was rare to see clear bases unless it was an epic base.

Personally i see no reason to buy them. They look neat but theyre pricy for literally just flair. Same opinion on the dial things, i refuse to buy them.

Xwing2 can put missiles on there if they want to. Or put 4 missile upgrade slots on.

Or... well. Whatever. Upgrade slots are now at the whim of the app. :D

Fun fact: the Silencer had been designed without Missiles, but Rian Johnson got an early toy prototype and said "oh yes. This actually looks better than what I had in mind." So he changed the movie a bit to incorporate someone else's idea.

I have a 100% confirmed info from a local distributor.

There are 4 medium bases in Scum and Rebel kits, 2 in the Imperial.

Reasoning is that the imperial kit only has two dials for the Punisher, the only medium base in the set, Rebel and Scum sets have 4 each because that's the max numbers of medium base ships you could field.

Can that retailer confirm the number of pilot cards? I want to work out if we have four named pilots per ship or if some just have two.

You can't field 9 of the same ship in an epic game.

You certainly will have a difficult time finding the points for 4 medium ships into a standard game.

at current squad points that is completely false

2 U-wing and 2 arc 170s fits in 100/6, or 4 Kimogilas, or 4 reapers, etc etc.

As for epic:

2 u-wing

2 k-wing

1 Nym

2 arc170

1 yt2400

around 220 points with light upgrades, and more than 80 points to spare for other ships or better pilots, etc

if there are 9 "medium" conversions, then it should come with 9 medium bases

Hence four bases.

Epic has yet to be converted.

Empire: 93

Alliance: 84

Scum: 99

So here's what's going through my head: what are the pegs like?

Large-base and Small-base ships have different pegs. Striker is going from Small-to-Medium, U-Wing from Large-to-Medium. Will there be a new, middle sized peg for new Medium ships? Will there be hybrid (medium on the bottom/large or small on the top)? Does it use a large peg by default and have some small-top pegs for ships?

How far does their information go? Do they just have a parts list or more complete information under NDA?

I came here thinking this post was going to be about the problems caused with a new base size and formation flying. It appears the medium base will be 1.5, so it will always move 0.5 more or less than the other bases.

Like a lot of questions people are asking.... go to the what we know consolidated info thread first. The medium base receives a large peg and comes with tapered pegs to allow small base to use.

I got it from the company responsible for translating and distributing the game in my country, they have complete information, ofc under NDA.

So basically hes saying they made it bigger just so they could sell it in a box at a higher price...?

No, he's saying they didn't have the full information about the ship, so they didn't get it quite right.

I'm hoping these get added in 2.0.

There's no rebel nym anymore.

No chance of getting named pilot count per faction then. Do you know if that pilot card count includes duplicates? Presumably yes given the huge number of pilots there'd be if it didn't.

Yes, that's all pilot cards, including multiple generics.

The Imperial number is a little alarming then. It strongly suggests some ships are getting one named pilot.

Scratch that, I mixed up the Rebel and Imperial numbers. Back to the drawing board I go.

UPDATE: That number's even scarier for the Rebels.

4 bases means that you need 2 or 3 conversion kits just to convert the ships listed as contents of 1 conversion kit. Its important for players to understand how much money they will have to spend if they choose to update.

for the record im very excited about most of the 2.0 changes, but it is an incredibly cheap money grab not to include the single most important part of the conversion in sufficient quantity

The distributors dont know whats in the packs yet.

we know this for a fact because the devs updated the contents of the imperial one, meaning they are still being developed.

Ditributors do not get a product specifications and parts list for products that are still in development

i actually made this thread in the hopes that FFG would adress the issue if people brought it up, like they did with the Gunboats.

it would be great if people either made productive comments/gave feedback or at least dint try to argue with players explaining why this is a problem

They didn't update the content, they just fixed a typo.

I assure you that the distributors, at least those outside of US/UK who need to localize the products, have files for every part of 2.0.

For proof check XwingTMG Reddit, a user found a couple of cards in the Polish distributor's announcement that so far weren't spoiled.

No you don't. You can't fly all of the ships listed as contents of 1 conversion kit in a standard list. No medium base ship to my recollection is cheap enough to run more than 4 in a list.

I bought enough of them to be able to use at events. Made it simpler to keep track of my own ships at a glance. But otherwise, yeah, mostly just flair.

Is saws ships rebel or resistance?

I realize they are just uwing and xwing models. However I don’t actually need anymore rebel xwings. Especially those that don’t come with rebel conversions.
