Medium bases potential issue

By Vontoothskie, in X-Wing

They were designed around converting enough ships to be able to play, but not be so expensive that you out-price people with small collections. If you don't have enough sihps to spam a full list of generics of every ship, you buy 1 conversion kit and it probably covers your entire collection. If you're a collector and/or buy a lot more of every ship instead of 1-2, then you can buy 2 conversion kits and be able to play any possible legal list for the faction in standard play.

Jup and they wanted to limited trading, so they included only multiple generics, but apparently not the unique cards, so every player has to buy at least one of those conversion kits. Hey, they are cheap enough, right? :)

In Australia, they're shapng up to actually be cheaper than HotR - a pack I bought exclusively for its upgrade cards, which were fixes for older expansions. That's seriously good value for 150+ cards.

Frank said on stream that the silencer was being resculpted becaues they didn't quite have the size right and he thought it stayed on a small base

So basically hes saying they made it bigger just so they could sell it in a box at a higher price...?

Im sorry but if you look at the real cost of the material included in those conversion kits, their margin profit is astronomical. Adding some plastic base or cards/cardboard would not raise the price by much. The real reason why they limit whats in those kits is to sell more of them or having the possibility to sell some conversion tools later.

Im not saying thats wrong btw. You have to take into account that they need to pay their staff, the design (protorypes...), the promo stuff, the marketing, the organized play, etc. Just saying the 50$ you pay is not for the physical material thats in the box.

It probably means that they received promotional materials to form the basis of their first sculpt. When they went and saw the movie it was clear it actually belonged on a much smaller base, so they need to make the model a bit smaller to correct for this discrepancy.

I have a 100% confirmed info from a local distributor.

There are 4 medium bases in Scum and Rebel kits, 2 in the Imperial.

Reasoning is that the imperial kit only has two dials for the Punisher, the only medium base in the set, Rebel and Scum sets have 4 each because that's the max numbers of medium base ships you could field.

Also it had missiles #triggered

They're not putting small/large bases in the conversion kit, are they? Are the plastic bases actually changing for 2.0? There would be no reason to include them otherwise.

Yeah, they're changing - there's no nubs on them any more.

Unless you're able and likely to play 4 or more in the same list AND you're getting only one conv kit AND you're getting no reaper or saw kits at all it might be mildly inconvenient. Stop.

Just stop.

Seriously. Your constant chicken-little-ing is tiresome. Just sell your stuff and move on.

So, you're concerned that FFG will include everything to convert a faction, except for the bases?

I guessed ;)

Is it clear yet which ships are medium?

My guess: Punisher, reaper

But could it also be the gunboat?

Would that make it a gunbloat?

Is that true? I don't believe it is.

There's nubs on the bases in the pictures, at least.

With how insistent FFG has been about us being able to use 1.0 templates, I’m almost 100% positive the nubs are still there.

I really think it is confusion as to how barrel roll works.

Most likely it'll be four. I doubt any of the medium base ships go below 40 points (20 in 1.0) and these seem to have been put together with legal lists in mind.

literally the only issue i see with medium bases is getting used to the movement, since they move more than small but not as much as medium.

Assuming you buy saw or reaper, you're bound to have 3 mediums. I dont see more than 3 mediums being used unless it involves multiple reapers/uwings from said saws/reaper box...which is more bases.

Well, I certainly hope they release a set of spare medium bases (and peg adaptors) - just mediums, not a mix of sizes like the existing pack(s)...

Oh pfft you really think they wont release the colored medium bases in a month or so to follow?

im honestly surprised they arent already mentioned.

I'd be surprised if they do coloured bases again at all, I get the impression they didn't sell remotely as well as expected.

I'm sure they'll release spare medium bases - my point is I hope it's a pack that has just mediums (and the adaptors)...

... I (personally) don't need more spare small and large.

right, so one third of what is required.

that is a collosal failure

You can't field 9 ships in a standard game.

You can't field 9 of the same ship in an epic game.

You certainly will have a difficult time finding the points for 4 medium ships into a standard game.
