Tie Advanced 2.0 seems meh

Is Afterburner a white boost?

Yes but it can only be used twice as the card has two charges, unless there is a way to recharge them

So I’m just spitballing here but...

Vader equipped with Afterburner can do potentially upto 4 actions a turn?

Move 3+ for Boost, Target Lock, Force Point into a Focus and chain into a red Barrel Roll

A guy in my group seems to think the sky is falling because of this, I kinda like it he’s meant to be the best pilot in the galaxy anyway

As the inverse to a previous comment I left on this thread:

It depends on the cost. If Vader is 100 points (half your list!) he'd better be able to do a bunch of stuff. We have no idea at this point if Vader is OP, Trash, or Goldilocks.

Remember, upgrades scale now, so Vader will be paying more for after burners than some schlub would.

Wait. Upgrade costs scale now? Where did we learn that?

Also: _wow_ they really _did_ take MJ's best ideas and implement them!

that is the key reason for the app (and for why the cards don't have costs on them), apart from ease of errata

it's most convenient for tracking upgrades that cost differently across different ships and initiative values

that or I'm stuck in a lucid fever dream

To be fair, things like increasing the point scale for more granularity and scaling the point cost of upgrades depending who is taking them are hardly unique things he came up with. Power fists and the like have been cheaper for lowly human guardsmen than for Space Marines in Warhammer 40k for ages now.

i thought FFG had learned it's leason with the Advanced when they mad it a worst version of the T-65 but it had an Evade , well in 2.0 it's still worst than a T-65 and they went even took the evade away. And the T-65 gets a better dial...sigh

please don't screw up the Interceptor

The Tie Advanced being so reliant on TL's will make lower PS pilots worse. Vader has high PS, better ability and popularity, so he will see play.

The Tie Interceptor is worse. PTL Limited to only double repositioning, while keeping the better X-wings from 1.0. And 2.0 Soontir's ability is worse than 2.0 Krennic, which is possibly the worst insult you can muster in 2.0. They wish to make the text shorter (good) but keep making these hard to fulfill conditions (bad).

Now, with most imperial stuff being so bad, at least we can hope for future price reductions. If they are bad and cost a lot, I imagine there would be some complaints.

Wait, "worse" relative to what?

1.0?

Well, I got good news. If it wasn't as bad as the 1.0 xwing, it got "worse"

Apparently the falcon even lost its 1-turn, and its boost is confirmed red via Reddit leak

Guys, you can't go into 2.0 thinking things will be like 1.0. literally defeating the point of the new edition

Also we've seen...jack **** of the total imperial lineup?

Beginning to think some empire players have a persecution complex

Yeah, broadly agreed. Soontir's ability is definitely worse in the context of 1.0. But in 2.0, as one of the few ships capable of double-repositioning (I think this was established?), they're clearly expecting him to fly more aggressively, using the actions to arc-dodge and line up a focused shot.

Worse relative to 2.0. I'm exclusively speaking in 2.0 terms.

Bullseye is very situational, even with good repositioning.

Krennic is just way too situational.

Compare that to Luke or Biggs. Still speaking in 2.0 terms exclusively. Do you really think0 Soontir or Krennic are better than Biggs or Luke? They are trash tier because they are so situational. In contrast, Luke and Biggs are so easy to trigger, which is why they are miles better. Palpatine and Vader are also very good, because they are very easy to activate.

Edit: I thought Soontir still had old ability plus Bullseye requirement. He is actually good because it only needs Bullseye, nothing else (not that situational). Krennic is still below trash tier.

Edited by falveryn

Krennic no, soontir yes

If you can't get bullseye arc on an initiative 6 interceptor that can still boost/roll, then it's not soontir that's bad

He's also definitely going to be cheaper than Luke/vader

Also, buffed xwings are cute but youd be delusional to think they could ever outjoust a TIE swarm that has been basically unchanged from 1.0

Except that howlies ability affects herself and Ms EA has a stupid good oneshot ability

Who's Ms EA?

My guess would be Iden Versio, protagonist of EAs most recent disaster battlefront game. Didn't know we already have her ability.

She can spend a charge to reduce the damage of a nearby TIE /Ln(range 0-1 so can include herself) from a single attack to 0. Whether its one damage or 4, she can prevent it once. Sounds pretty good to me.

Man, that is a **** good ability! Fair ship swarm, this as a protection agains Howlrunner getting one shot, filled up with 4 black squadrons...sounds extremely strong!

I think they said a naked Vader is currently 84 points, while Luke sits a 70. So yeah, it appears you pay a premium for force-points.

So previously you had to target lock to get the added crit, couldn't spend said target lock eith a upgrades you would be stupid not to take....

Now you roll an extra dice when atracking a ship you have locked, can turn a hig to a crit and can spend your target lock in the attack... keep the evade I'd rather blow crap up...

Can you shoot all four Cluster Missiles at once, by alternating between two targets? I see no language that prohibits it. (Although thinking about it, there could well be a universal "max one bonus attack" rule.)

I'm assuming you can only ever make one bonus attack per round, which would be a very nice rule.

Gotta say I'm slightly disappointed that with all the extra space on the upgrade cards, they couldn't find room to describe the effects of the bomb on the bomb card itself.

Naked Vader is not 84 points, that must have been fully loaded. FFG has been showing Vader flying with four black crack ties. We know the Acadamy pilot hasn't changed in points, so we will assume the blacks haven't changed much if at all. Crackshot is also very similar, and probably one or two points. This gives us 30 points a tie or 120 for four of them. This leaves only 80 total points for Vader. The last game I saw played had Vader equipped with Sense, Cluster Missiles, Afterburners, and FCS. Using their old counterparts as a baseline, naked Vader is probably around 60 points.

I swear to god, if the ARC can't barrel-roll natively while EH sports that art...

I shall be equipping that card on my ARCs even if they do have native BR just to increase the number of pictures of ARCs in my squadron!

If they do have native they’re probably red.

I haven’t a clue.

Too much “almost” info, and lots of unknowns.

I just hope they test the mess out of it before printing everything and certainly before pricing it out. Please FFG, use great players and let them break it a few times before printing. If you get this wrong (abilities) day one, with people shelling out bundles of cash to upgrade and they find their favorite V 1.0 pilot that was s**t on by the oppressive “new” (Wave 7-12) mechanics cannot compete, they’ll burn this game to the ground.

Rant over, just be patient and careful FFG.

I’ve obviously got far behind on the info. What’s this stream people are talking about? How do we know what Soontir does? Where can I see a Scum game?

Check out the FFG twitch stream from Wednesday for some Scum action.

Its really good, but one use seems underwhelming to me.
