Not just a flappy X-Wing...

By ABXY, in X-Wing

... but a spinny Fang as well! ( or so I am led to believe )

Plus it appears the Y sculpt has some enhanced weapon details as well.

Yes, X-Wing S-foils, Fang wings, Turret on Y rotates. We think those are the only new sculpts in wave 1. Other ships will get new sculpts if needed as they are redone, but it was explicitly said that not all ships are going to be resculpted, only those that really need it, either because the sculpt is bad or because of an enhancement they "should" have.

Maybe B-Wings that have the gyroscopic rotation around the cockpit?

I would be shocked if they didn't, and probably movable s-foils too.

I can tell you from personal experience the static model is already fragile and a pain in the butt to try and mod... Of course I want a fully moveable S-Foil B-wing but I wouldn't hold my breath... of course We never thought we'd get moving X-wing S-foils so anything is possible. I just don't know how FFG will pull it off.

The Tie Silencer is getting a new sculpt too, to fix the back end and to make it smaller since they now know its accurate size.

Yeah, well, I thought the moveable X-Wing wings were a lame gimmick, but everyone seems to be going gaga for them anyway. ?

When I was a kid, my grandfather bought a bunch of Star Wars toys (probably would be worth a decent chunk of change if the collection were intact!). My fav was the X-Wing. The S-Foils clicked into closed position, then if you pressed down on R2-D2's head, they'd pop open into attack position. Also there was a light and a blaster sound. To get flappy wings again will be fun for me. I am the target audience. They have landed a direct hit, as if I were a womp rat used for target practice.

Sounds like the Kenner action figure scale X-Wing. That was, like 30 times as big as the FFG miniature, they had enough room to make the mechanism robust enough to actually work and not break.

Have you watched the TC playthrough video and seen the closeups of Alex fiddling with his X-Wing because the wings wouldn't close all the way or wouldn't stay open all the way?

A small wheel or cog inside that is attached to the ship peg from the engines that lets you rotate the ship and the wings at the same time, so a flat sideways model to the current one. At least that is my non-expert idea.

Look it is an X-wing with opening and closing wings! Its never been done before, except for all the times that it has, but this time smaller! Just wait til next wave when they come out with T-70s with opening and closing wings.

I did see that, yes. It was concerning. A friend @ worlds said that the one he got at the hyperspace report seems ok - he had a better impression than I got from said video.

Until R2's dome rotates, I don't care.

My concern is more the durability. I'm sure they are going to work decent right out of the pack, but after 50 or so games? The Lambda wings get pretty floppy eventually, and they are a much larger, more robust hinge.

Extra weight and more friction wear down the Lambda wings faster

I'm confident of finding a way to solve any issue that might emerge in the moving parts.

I'm one of those going gaga for them ( @Forgottenlore - ? )

Probably missiles to.

This is exactly why I’m not to eager to replace all my T-65s, the fixed wings work.

How else can they put 'Tap Dancing Action' on the box!?

Also, oops and fixed.

can you clarify what you mean by "fix the back end"?

X-wing miniature

vs its final film's shape.

Notice how the X-wing's version lacks the sharp end of the craft? FFG likely got an earlier concept art of the fighter that changed in post production after FFG made the mold and sent it to get produced.

Source on the resculpt for the Silencer?

On one hand, the new back will probably look better.

On the other hand, they said that they will make it smaller, and that's unacceptable.

I have a Chad Blackout card for a reason.
