Re: balance

By Stormgale, in Tannhauser

So then me and my friends just got this game and seem to have a little problem

The Obscura Corps is dominating, with melee characters (e.g. our Lovely Demon handed knife wielding silly bugger or the Whip Wielding mistress of pain) Shredding the Allied forces without much way to deny them a melee Closing attack, combined with blind corners and High movement Speed (Allowing for some lovely Moves in, damage and retreat turns) I seem to destroy him

Is there some facet of the game rules We are missing or Something

Sorry for the newbishpost just my friends and I are kinda scratching our heads

For TLDR:

This game seems to allow for an easy melee close, where the character will do serious damage and using blind corners / Half open doors (which block LOS and seemingly not movement) allowing for The Obscura corp[s to dominate.

Thanks in advance

I had the same problem at first, the probem is to that the Union forces are a little more difficult to use than the Korps. The lack of melee weapons is quite a weakness to avoid it you should understand that you have not to use all your movement every turn. Positioning you characters in a correct way you can use you firepower with little fear of retribution.

Agreed. The Korps is easier to get a handle on in your first few games. The Union is perfectly capable of winning as well, but they have a steeper learning curve.

As the Union you must use the prototype weapons and the smoke screen grenades at your advantage. Also if the Reich decides to keep position in a room, your only option is trying rushing in, even at the cost of losing one of your team member.

If your playing Union keep this in mind "When in Doubt, Grenade it Out", be it Smoke or Hi-Ex Grenades are amoung the Union Trooper's best buds.

Grenades really are your best friends as union troops. A more aggressive approach may also be best, using the union trooper with keep moving to out flank and flush out the Korps.

We had the same problem with the first game we played as well. The Reich destroyed Union without a second thought. Once we started using all of the items to their full advantage, the playing field evened out. Though I'm not sure how adding the Russians to the mix will change things. I hear they are overpowered, I've only read their descriptions, and they scare me.
