Hi people.
I am preparing a full space combat session for next week and I was rereading the starship combat rules to refresh them and take some notes. And it resulted that what I had clear now is not so clear, due to the wording of the rules.
After having done a search in the topics by "starship combat / actions / maneuvers" and found nothing clear, I want to ask you if my interpretation of the rules is correct or not. Thank you all in advance.
My interpretation of the rules is as follows:
- A starship/vehicle can take a maximum of 2 starship/vehicle maneuvers per round.
-
For silhouette 1-4 starship/vehicles: both maneuvers can be "pilot only" maneuvers if the starship/vehicle takes 2 system strain damage and:
- The pilot takes also 2 strain or,
- The pilot transforms his action to a pilot only maneuver or,
- The copilot does the maneuver.
- For silhouette 5+ starship/vehicles: of this 2 available maneuvers, only 1 can be "pilot only". I see nowhere in the rules if this ships/vehicles can or cannot take system strain to take 1 additional "non-pilot" maneuver. By RAW, on "Combat Between Capital Ships", I guess that they cannot suffer strain, that they have to expend the starship/vehicle action for doing that.
So, my guessing in the following situations is :
- Starship silhouette 1-4: if affected already by 2 "pilot only maneuvers" cannot take an "angle deflector shields" maneuver until next round. Or it can?
- Starship silhouette 5+: if has already taken 1 maneuver (pilot or not), it cannot suffer system strain to take an "angle deflector shields" maneuver and has to spend its action for doing so.
I am interpreting this correctly or I am missing something?
Thanks!
