I am very excited for 2.0, because before it I was ready to quit it. The game just has baseline issues that stem from it being released in a very different environment and with way lower expectations. 2012 Star Wars was falling asleep. FFG never expected to take the game far beyond even wave 2. When it took off and demand stayed so high and Disney took over being more ambitious with the brand, FFG just kept on adding stuff, compounding problems set in wave 2.
How did these problems look? Vaguely burger shaped. The Falcon introducing the ship without blind spots introduced an imbalance to the game that kept on swinging, with each swing making the divide between strong and weak ships ever larger.
If you really want to understand why 2nd edition is so exciting, try this experiment: Build a list restricing yourself only to original trilogy ships (excluding the fixed X-Wing, maybe, though it, too, could be worth a try) and take it up against either of these lists a few times:
Lothal Rebel (35)
Sensor Jammer (4)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Ezra Bridger (3)
Maul (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Ghost (0)
"Zeb" Orrelios (18)
"Chopper" (0)
Phantom (0)
Fenn Rau (Sheathipede) (20)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Hotshot Co-pilot (4)
Flight-Assist Astromech (1)
Total: 99

This one demonstrates the PS problem very well and also boasts an absurd efficiency that is just not possible to combat with 80% of ships, including 99% of original trilogy ships.
Miranda Doni (29)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
C-3PO (3)
Bomblet Generator (3)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) (17)
Snap Shot (2)
Hera Syndulla (1)
R3-A2 (2)
Lowhhrick (28)
Selflessness (1)
Rey (2)
Tactician (2)
Total: 100

This one is just stacking broken effects on top of each other.
And that doesn't even consider alpha strike lists...
