I think mini swarms with a support ship and an Ace is going to be the imperial style. Iden can protect your ace early, howlrunner will give a re roll, and the lambda or reaper will provide support.

Oh man, the fun I had back in the day with Carnor and a mini-swarm was so great. There's going to be such nostalgia when this stuff hits. I'm excited for Interceptors and hope some of those pilots like Lt. Urinal, I mean Lorrir, finally get their day.

Agreed i cant wait to test interceptors. Their pilot abilities were all over the place

Wait how does that solve anything? If the conversion kit doesn't have enough for me to convert one of my x-wings, buying saw doesn't help: I'd still have one unconverted x-wing. Or does saw come with two x-wing dials?

Yes, you'll have an unconverted X-wing. It doesn't solve that problem. I'll have unconverted ships on just one conversion kit. I'll also have more extras on one conversion kit than I'll have unconverted ships.

I'm not worried about my unconverted ships because I'll be able to field four X-wings in a list at the start of 2nd Ed. I'm getting Saw. I'm getting a conversion. I'm getting a new core. That's four 2nd Ed. T-65s. (2 upgraded from my collection, 1 from Saw, 1 from Core. 4 TIES upgraded from my collection of five, 2 from Core.)

Yes, I have unconverted ships but I can field any list I'm likely to want to play at the outset of second edition with just the stuff I need to play 2nd Ed. I'd be getting Saw's Renegades even without 2nd Ed. and the ships in it come with the 2nd Ed. conversion bits. What 2nd Edition will solve is getting four "good" X-wings in a list.

I'll only have two Flight Assist Astromech and three S-foils. So that's only the stuff for two "good" X-wings and one not horrible X-wing.

I'm also one of those folks who don't like change but I'm all for change that makes my world better. And two T-65 X-wings sitting useless because there aren't enough to convert them all in the new kit is still two X-wings ahead since I can't really play them at all in a first edition world.

I have four t-65s that don't get played. A pair of A-wings that don't get played. A pair of B-wings that don't get played. FIVE TIE fighters that don't get played. From my point of view I'm going to have way more stuff that won't sit idle than stuff I can't convert and thus sit idle.

It isn't perfect. But perfect is the enemy of good and my math says this is a good deal.

Perfect for 100 point games maybe. What about epic? But anyway whatever conversion kit they made the distribution would have been wrong for some people. I do still think they should have increased the number of ships that were in the 1.0 core sets, since it was very common for people to buy multiple of those. (i.e. more ties and x-wings)

Other than that, the price is very high for what it is. Given that they've said they'll be releasing new ships fairly soon, I'd have thought they'd have priced the conversion kits a little more aggressively. But I guess they don't have to with such a rabid fan base.

I’ve noted that the FAQ lists the Scuurg only under Scum. Does this mean no more Nym for Rebels? Or is it because the Scuurg was a Scum expaniaon?

If it’s the latter, why is Slave I listed in the Scum conversion kit when the expansion that contains the ship was originally Imperial?

They seem to be consolidating factions. We know there's no Imperial Firespray-31 in 2.0; its very possible there's no Rebel H-6 Scurrg.

rebel/scum are still sharing Zs and Ys, though

I think the best option would have been to have two conversion kits per faction: One for the small based ships that people are likely to have more than two of, and one for the larger based ships that people rarely have two of. Then people could have bought two or three of the small base conversion kits, and only one of the large base conversion kits. Or whatever they needed, the point is that it would have given people more flexibility when it comes to tailoring their conversion purchases to their collections.

It’s a catch 22. There wasn’t going to be a perfect solution because everyone collects a bit differently. But yeah, the only large base ship I have multiples of is the Falcon thanks to HotR. It seems weird to include so many multiples of the large based ships.

True, I just think if players had a bit more flexibility in what they bought they might be a bit less upset about the price of converting.

Correct, no more rebel Nym, no more Imperial Firespray.

I bought 2 of every large base ship that wasn’t unique to lore. Like all the imperials and most the scum. Only one of each rebel though. The falcon, outrider, and ghost are all the only ship they should ever be.
