yeah but that means I can't just trundle up to Vader or other higher initiative pilots and smack em across the face with conners :(

Almost as if using bombs required you to predict your enemy... and not having initiative makes it harder...

I'm pretty sure they mentioned that they didn't want to see that done, they wanted to give players a chance to try and avoid getting hit or reacting to the bomb rather than just having a player smacked in the face with little to do reactively. I think they very much want to focus on having it where piloting is the main part of the new edition.

that's a shame, since ACTION bombs were about the only way lower PS had an advantage over higher PS (apart from rigged cargo, which is basically an action "bomb", and snap shot)

hopefully you actually pay premium for "initiative" now

Well if they bollocks it up again and nobody wins with mooks, they just keep making em cheaper until they compete. The app-based costing is just Christmas baby.

You do get a 3rd gunboat instead of 3 Decimators, they had a typo and corrected it today.

This deal keeps getting better all the time!

They did reduce PS/Initiative to 6, and mostly likely most ships will be in that range 3 - 5 range most of the time.

Will we still be able to use the old tokens? I don't know if I want to play a game where I can't use the blue QQ token for Omega Leader.

Given the mindboggling array of target lock tokens that's allowed today, I don't see why not - I reckon this would fall in the "if you and your opponent are fine with it, it's fine" category.

This right here just kind of seals it for me. I can and will nitpick (I would love a third Gunboat conversion instead of a third Decimator). But it really seems like FFG is trying to do right by 1st edition players. Having a lower price point for FO and Resistance conversions makes sense but they didn't really have to.

They did really have to because not many people would drop 50usd on three ships.

Can't wait to learn that Resistance kit allows you to convert 6 bombers, 10 falcons, and 2 T-70s.

I'm 100% fine with the death of unavoidable damage/control mechanics during the activation phase.

Plus, swarms will be able to benefit from Bullseye arcs. Have fun trying to avoid the bullseye arcs from eight different TIE Fighters!

did they confirm they're separate?
because even if you pulled both factions together, you still have less ships than the other factions

also ACTION bombs are not unavoidable, especially not after the ASLAM nerf. you just have to actually position your ships well so you don't let a bomber that's as expensive as your ace position itself to bomb you next turn. god forbid you have to plan ahead

staggering your formation helps out a lot there, or using obstacles to your advantage

How much you wanna bet that we find out you can fly the old A-wing model as the new A-wing model using the cardboard included in the Resistance box?

Wooo, 1 turn on the Firespray. That is going to be amazing!!!

well, I guess they're basically the same thing

but even then, still not seeing you fill a $50 box with only 4 ship types

I'm imagining it will probably be more like a $30 release for each.

If the first OP prize is a 1 straight acrylic with the little lines on it then I am fabulous.

Wave 2 and beyond will include new upgrades and cards but some of the stuff in the conversion packs will be in them. BUT, there will be upgrade sets for the rereleased ships for existing players so you don't need to buy the new ship. They haven't come out with any details but they mentioned the possibility to have stuff packed together for the wave in a conversion pack/new ship cards = token pack.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss this is perfect

proportionally speaking, it should be 25% of the cost (4 ships to the rebel's 16) so...$12.5

Why should lower PS ships be at an advantage in any situation against higher PS... They are cheaper.

What is this equity crap? They are WORSE pilots. Their PILOT SKILL is lesser. Why should they get an edge?

because in 1.0 the cost for having the best PS and ability was basically nothing? this led to some ridiculous swings in efficiency between pilots

it's kinda one of the GIANT DEFINING PROBLEMS in 1.0, one im sure no one wants to repeat

besides, ye old ASLAM k-wing was 33 points same as soontir. so it needed the advantage to be worth it

Evade Tokens and Reinforce Tokens convert one die to an evade rather than adding an evade result.

It has(d) more health, upgrades and firing arcs... PS is not the only factor in ship costs.

Basically nothing? The Alpha sq pilot is 18 points. I think Soontir was more expensive than that. You pay 1 point per point of PS on average. Some pilots, pay a lot more. Gunboat aces.

Yeah, but Soontir was able to stack Focus and Evade tokens along with Palpatine, Stealth Device and Autothrusters to be nigh-unhittable. Or combine Boost and Barrel Roll for massive repositioning at high PS.

Those combinations aren't coming back.

always room for new combos, especially with ordnance still working the way it used to and making alpha strikes potentially VERY strong in an age where action efficiency is harder to come buy

especially since two force power pilots, Luke and Vader, are high initiative. and we already know force tokens provide a LOT of action efficiency. Plus, being able to ps-kill (initiative kill?) remains a massive advantage

don't get me wrong, I applaud the effort FFG is putting into making arc-dodging less easy (worse rolls, limited use "Engine Upgrade"), but it's not hard to slip back into 1.0 territory
