Upgrading your TIE/LN dials

By BojambaMcMamba, in X-Wing

So, I have a whole mess of TIE/LN, many of which I bought online without upgrade cards for use with HotAC for pretty cheap. (seems like an extra good deal now!)

When the upgrade kits were announced, at first I was bummed that there are only 4 dials in the Imperial kit. Then I realized that I'd get two more in the core set. *(Quick side note, that's not much consolation. The only thing I want out of that is the damage deck. I make acrylic templates, so... don't need a new cardboard set, I'll make my own line, thank you very much)*.

That would give 6 dials, enough for most sane people. But what about us TIE Swarm enthusiasts?

Then I noticed a funny thing. The TIE/LN dial has the exact same maneuvers in both 1st and 2nd Ed. I was first surprised and bummed that they didn't get at least a Sloop ("nimble TIE Fighters" indeed! Ha!). The silver lining here, is that I don't see any reason why I couldn't use my old TIE/LN dials, exactly as they are (Picky TO's and unreleased FFG OP rules not withstanding).

So that's good I guess. Any other dials revealed that are exactly the same as 1st Ed? Any reason why I couldn't use the original TIE/LN dials (at least in a casual game)?

So if the dials dont change for a ship, I dont see why all the rest cant just be downloaded. All those tournament cards now rendered useless.... I feel for those guys who spent extra money on a Palpatine.

I for one have never played a tournament (not interested, and probably good enough), but have played all my games by printing out stat sheets from a squad builder app. As long as the dials are the same, I dont see a need to upgrade using the conversion pack. Ill wait for it all to be online and then just print it out.

yeah the big bug here to make it fit into 2.0 casual games is the base.....and so far nothing really stands out that it will be missing, at first. Barrel roll matches up with the marks on the side, but for a casual game I'd be ok with just lining up with the middle or something.

To be clear, many of the dials are changing, based on the images we've gotten. T65 X-wings have built in T-rolls, and TIE Adv have an extra maneuver (a Sloop, I think). I was just noting that the TIE/LN dial seems to be the same, so maybe I don't need to worry about getting too many extra dials for them.

I imagine that we'll get well more than 4 cardboard bases in that conversion kit, so as long as you want to throw in a couple named pilots (Howlrunner, etc), you should have plenty of cardboard bases.

Where was the dial? That would be great if we don't need to update ALL my Tie Fighter dials!!!
