Ascension Prerequisite Confusion

By Catachan, in Dark Heresy

This has been bothering me since I got my copy of Ascension.

In the career path advancement schemes for the different careers the “Prerequisites” for a lot of the talents are not the same as they are in the talents section.

For example. The Crusader has the “Death Blow” Paragon Talent listed with the Prerequisite (WP 50, St 40). The Deathblow Paragon talent has different prerequisites in it’s entry in the “Skills and Talents” section, which is (WS 50, S 40). First of all there is the issue of WP vs. WS, and also St vs. S. Those are some major inconsistencies. I would probably have to use the prerequisites listed in the “Skills and Talents” section, because it’s hard to punch some one in the face with your Will Power.

It is also the same issue for the Crusader’s listing of the Prerequisites for “Berzerker”, where it’s listed with WP instead of WS.

The prerequisites for the ascendant talent “Unarmed Master” is also listed differently in the career advancement section than it’s entry in the Skills and Talents section. The prerequisites in the career advancement scheme (for various careers) is (WS 45, Ag 45, Unarmed Master), and the one in the Skills and Talents section is (WS 45, Ag 40, Unarmed Master). So, one has Ag 45 vs. Ag 40. Again I’ll go with the one listed in the “Skills and Talents” section instead of the ones in the career advancement section.

For my last example, the Storm Trooper has “Peerless Marksman” listed with no prerequisites even though it has one of BS 40 in the Skills and Talents section.

These are just the ones I saw by flipping though the pages real quick. I find this is very confusing, whether the prerequisites listed in the “The Path to Ascension” section or the ones listed in the “Ascended Skills and Talents” section take priority.

I would say it's pretty safe to assume that the Skills and Talents section is correct, and the career sections are off. Like you said, you can't punch someone in the face with will power, well, unless you're a pysker, then by all means, commence the will power face punching.
