[Blog] Let The Past Die. Kill It, If You Have To
Without reading the blog I can already guess, but I'll go ahead anyway
Were you right?

I indeed was, and thank you for the well researched post. Your guesstimated number for quitting players also comes pretty close to the like/dislike ratios I see on Facebook, a bit lower, but I think it is reasonable that more players will be swayed as more information lands and looks appetizing and also once 2nd ed. lands and players will be able to try it out with early adopters like me. Can't lie, my excitement is already way beyond being contained.
What worries me, though, is the extremely toxic reaction I see in German Facebook groups. I am a bit fearful for the games future here. On one hand, people that act in these certain ways (calling people that post positively about 2nd stupid i.e.) are not people I'll miss from the community, but on the other hand those people will have some sway over those that have difficulty forming their opinion. I hope that the damage to the player base isn't too bad.
"Let The Past Die. Kill It, If You Have To"
I really really hate that quote/theme in the Last Jedi, when the literal opening line of every Star Wars movie (except Rogue One) is "A long long time ago ..."

It’s the only way for you to become who you are truly meant to be.

I really can't stand it either.

Eh, if anything its a subtle jab at all the stupid star wars nerds that obsess about everything.
I hate almost everything about The Last Jedi... except that quote. I've already got great mileage from it.

Another reason Ruin Johnson needs to take a long walk off a short pier, then...

"Amazing, everything you just said was wrong" isn't half-bad either. I rate TLJ a solid 6/10 on the meme scale. It's not a prequel movie, but it has some things.

The fan obsession about some things is ridiculous. If it would have been me, I would have destroyed the falcon in this movie, killing Han (who I would not have killed in TFA) and maybe Chewy in the process. Many fans would have had a meltdown if their precious hunk of junk had been destroyed though.

The best thing that came out of The Last Jed..?

I'm glad you are excited for X wing 2.0. I am a bit depressed that you will no longer do your series on the different eras of x wing. It was interesting and insightful. It also helped explain how we got to a point where the developers felt we needed a second edition.

Yep I've had good use from that too.

NOT MY CHEWIE!!
Will you still finish your lesson in X-Wing history before this 7th age dawns? I know you wrote otherwise, but it had been a good read so far and I guess many find it really interesting
Keep it up, love your blog

I don‘t agree with fanning the flames wrt conversion kits. What cost per dial+cardboard is acceptable, and why are the $1.50 too much? We all spend so much time and money on that game, all the travel costs and food is by now than my entire collection. $50 conversion kit is nothing in comparison. It is way better than buying everything new.
As for the frequent criticism of ‚half kits‘ because there are not enough for: it looks like they provide one for each product but not for multiple copies. Which is extremely reasonable. I‘d say many of us get one of each, and only rarely multiples. And how could they know which ones you get more than once? They can not, and that‘s why the size of the kit makes sense, too.
And as side note: you wrote deadeye arc instead of bullseye arc.
Good analysis.
I don't think you're fanning the flames about the cost. You acknowledge that it's a good chunk of money, but that it's worth it if a person plays a bunch, and you note it's better than buying all new everything. I agree that the cost is reasonable from FFG's point: they're providing a lot of cards, dials, and other bits. That's just a decision players will have to make. I'll spend some time thinking about which conversion kit to buy first.
The changed mechanics should bring good changes to the came, and hopefully, they will limit the ultra janky lists or at least those lists won't be OP.

They could look at which ships sold more copies. I dont believe 3 decimators are common in a collection but only 2 defenders.

That decimator is very likely a typo.
But Defenders were sold in 2 packs: the expansion and imperial veterans. So buying all products once means you‘ll have two defenders.
2 decimators, 3 gunships now.
