The Logic of the conversion kits

By william1134, in X-Wing

Hi all,

I really question some of the choices for the number of ships in each conversion pack. I don't know if they have made any kind of thought into this or are just trolling with us so that we have to buy multiple packs if you have more than 2 defender/gunboats or heaven forbid.. more than 4 tie fighters.

For the example, the Imperial pack has THREE Decimators? Who has that many and I wasn't even aware that you could fit three Decimators into a list. Maybe you can in 2.0 but this is just stupid.

Why not both?

By and large they seem to be intended such that you get at least enough to cover a single purchase of each standard-play SKU, plus some extras where large numbers are useful.

The decis one we're not sure about, it might just be a typo, but my guess is that they intend to allow 3 deci lists, and that they basically had to choose either more decis or more lambdas, and they went for more decis. I'm betting there's a limitation at work from the production system.

Four TIES I sorta get, though it should've been five (2 from core, 1 from standalone, two from gonzati), but maybe space constraints. Then again, you're getting two more from new core

...and the dial is THE EXACT SAME, just blue

The vt-49s seems like a wild typo. You currently can't even fit 3 in a list!

Given it's a conversion pack, it shouldn't matter that you could use 3 in 2.0. it's meant to convert your 1.0 stuff

And if they add room that you can run 3, most people would have to go buy a third one anyway.

Well you can run 6 TIEs, as the conversion kit gives you 4 and the required core set gives you two more.

Yes, that's what I said ?

but given the dial is literally the same and you'll get extra bases because of all the new pilots, you could easily run more

Moar GUNBOATS plz.

LET ME AGREE WITH YOU MORE

I may have hit the wrong quote button.

The conversion kits seem superfluous for some ships, like TIE Fighters that haven’t changed at all save for a few tweaks to some pilots and the ALL NEW multi arc standard pilot tokens. 2.0 X-wings, Firespray, even Y-wings will be vastly different, but later releases like GUNBOAT will be virtually untouched. Do my BOATS even need a bullseye arc if I’m not putting the relevant EPTs on them?

If 6 TIEs is the limit (either due to point constraints or hard limits on the number of ship types, like Legion) that could force more varied building of squads. A return to 8 TIES (7 academies + Howlrunner) probably isn't what the devs want.

To be honest, I love the Gunboat but I would be happy if heavy weapons ships are limited in some way to keep. Un-escorted heavies should be murdered by fighters.

You can never have too much Gunboat!

It's not just 'a few tweaks' though, there are a whole bunch of completely new pilots, including the ones from Battlefront 2

That’s why it’s so sad that we’ll have to wait 12 more waves (at least) to see Folding Wing GUNBOATS in fancy black blister pacs.

I doubt that they'll change the model on the gunboat given how recent it is. Also, during interviews they talked about how much product they could release at a given time. They are planning an extremely aggressive re-release of all the old ships. You won't have to wait years for Gunboat 2.0.

It isn't like anyone has more than 2 Y-2wings. and glad to see they got everyone that rushed out and bought 3 quadjumpers covered!

Bleh. We can't even keep the EA garbage out of the game? I cannot wait to see microtransaction based pilot abilities in X-wing. :P

Quick question... will the new core set by the only way to get hold of the new maneuver templates? The barrel roll (speed 1 template) seems vital due to that central little line needing to match up to the base plate.
