Please stop complaining about the best parts of 2.0
If you don’t like the app and don’t like tournament then by all means keep playing 1.0 at home. They haven’t harmed you at all.

In your humble opinion.
Not everyone is keen on it, myself included.

I don't think cross section between "not casual enough for Quick Build" and "too casual to use a squad builder" is going to be that big.
I'd agree with that if there were more quick build options included in the boxes. Or some kind of...I dunno, cross-box 'quick build' sets for each wave or something.
Because, yeah, where this app really stabs and indeed what it destroys is...a type of play I've idealized, but never really done.
I mean, casual matches where I'm building lists for everyone before we play? I hate doing that, it's a pain, and the new 'quick build' cards solve that. Want a quick game? Awesome, let's do a threat-level 5 match - you grab Luke and a Red Squadron Veteran...

...I'll pull, say, Gideon Hask and 3 Academy Pilots with their recommended builds, and *boom*, done - good to go.
So I'll say, right here, the 2nd edition is a HUGE improvement.
And for tournament matches? Well, you were already required to build your list in a list builder and/or have it able to be entered into the tournament software. So there is literally no change here at all - all "competitive tournament" work was already done in apps or web pages, only it also then had to be scanned in or entered into the software for the TO, and so now we're skipping a step. So...again, improvement over the current system (although minor).
The problem is the theoretical mid-tier play. IE., a group of buddies and I get together to play X-Wing, but want more than a casual match, and don't feel like all pulling up our phones or laptops to build a list and instead just pull out the cards and sort through them to build a list. This mode of play is now dead and gone, but...well...I mean...I did say "theoretical" mode of play. I've logged literally hundreds of games of X-Wing, can't even guess how many hours that amounts to, and never once played a game like this. It has always been - every single game - either the first (super casual, I'm slogging through list building for everyone) or the second (app-based tournament builds)...which both methods are significantly improved in 2nd edition. And the theoretical mode I would have LIKED to play...but never did...is now totally gone in exchange for the other two?
Ehhhh...I mean, the app thing still grates a bit on my nerves, but...
I guess it's okay. I really would be a lot happier if there were more pre-build options, though. ESPECIALLY once the Epic ships get released - there better be a LOT of prebuilds.

That's how I used to play and it died long before 2.0. It died around Wave 5 when the card pool started to get too large to eschew squad builders.

Because if the app only lets me create legal lists, what happens to my old list?
Right. 2.0 could have just gone Vassal and be done. But then there is nothing to sell. . .
Agreed. Just gathering info.
I am just trying to figure out how 2.0 impacts my personal relationship with the game.
And the $500 I will have to spend just to stand still with my collection.
Questioning the implications of all the new materials does not mean that I'm mad, and it doesn't give you the right to jump down my throat.
Lots of people think this is awesome. X-Wing will not die. But I can still have reservations about it. OK?
You may not be angry, but a lot of you posts sure come off that way. I didn't even quote the one with the 72pt font. And you're welcome to question the new aspects of the game, just please don't try to tell the rest of us that we're wrong because we may not have the same reservations that you do.
