Impact 3! Let’s Discuss Lay of the Land and Corruption Rune

By ares1618, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Impact 3 is back with a first first look at the two new upgrades spoiled in the Darnati Warriors article released last week! I cover a few different ideas I have to possibly test both out as well as some of the pros and cons of both. Let me know what you think of these upgrades and where you think they may see some play!

Thanks! I like that you broke the morale deck down - Stun and Immobilize are usually more powerful than panic, and you'll usually get one or the other. I'm not sure who in Latari wants Corruption Rune, but it does seem a pretty good fit on Spearmen. Several games I've been slowly repositioning them without much to do on the right dial, and a little extra damage and control would be quite nice.

Of course whenever I play with even a single Golem the Unstable runes decide to go on vacation, but...

Hah! Ya, I’m not quite familiar enough with the other factions to know who wants what, but it does offer a nice ranged control option with some light damage for some of the melee units out there who might not be doing anything else for a couple rounds. And at 4pts, it’s not nearly as expensive as something like Fire Rune, so you don’t NEED it to go off several times for it to be worth its points either. It will be interesting to see where it gets included in lists.

You are wrong about Derpwoods. Excuse me while I throw up in my mouth a bit, but you can trigger 6 shifts through a turn under the right circumstances.

Attack-trigger a shift, then shift

You dialed in a skill instead of surge - Wind Rune shift and then shift

Support scion - shift and then shift

I originally thought this as well, but then someone pointed out Lay of the Land states it is limited to once per round ?

Oh. Derp. Then yeah, 4 shifts

I mean hey, 4 shifts is still pretty solid! It’s the same length as a 4 wide tray unit which allows the Archers to very easily avoid less mobile and maneuverable units if needed. Not quite 6 shifts, but still nothing to complain about.

With that all being said though, I think the strength of Lay of the Land (based 100% on theory) really lies in the flexibility it provides as Latari have so many different ways to get use out of it.

For anyone bringing the mobile Latari army model, LotL is going to be an impressive addition. I don’t doubt this card at all. It makes my Waiqar army cringe.

My Uthuk? Eh... let em shift. I’m still coming

EDITED: Sorry, bad post
