When I first saw a handful of the subtitles, they all referred to the Squadron. Vader is "Black Leader", and Scum Fenn is "Skull Squadron Leader", someone else might be a "Blue Squadon Ace". So, effects could target squadrons, like "Choose a friendly ship at range 0-2 in your squadron..." or could target roles in any squadron like "when attacking any Ace..."

Pretty cool, I think.

That wouldn't work as it implies that collecting stamps is a thing to be proud of.

If the guy was introduced in a canon comic with the subtitle being Collector of Stamps, the stamps in question would be ultra rare stamps he's stolen that were only avalible during some royal wedding on Naboo and are worth millions of credits.

Being called "Dave" in a universe where "Jayyad" is a common name would be the most boring identifiable feature to exist.

True about stamps. but along the same line of reasoning, Dave is a more interesting name than most in the Star Wars galaxy since it's monosyllabic and pronounceable by human vocal chords. This is tricky...
