Episode 79: Second Birthday Attack Edition!

Welcome aboard the Shuttle Tydirium for a special episode! FFG has decided to honor our birthday with huge news about X-wing! This episode is getting rushed out and may not be top audio quality, but....

THIS IS B I G NEWS!

Oh all the casts I listen to, yours was not the one I expected to release FIRST on the 2nd edition stuff. Well played.

Let me know if you think we get things wrong. You can always email me instead of screaming at the radio. :)

Again, as usual, well done guys; I enjoyed it. I also loves being brought up as an example of an 'old-timer' haha! It was fun that @heychadwick connected me and my confusing post --that attempted to explain my excitement welded to frustration about the Saw's X-Wing fix-- to what the lovers of the original game loved and lamented; you nailed it. I guess I'm going to embrace the term, salty 'old-timer' in this game; that's absolutely fine with me to be dragged into that camp. At least the beer will be better (no IPAs).

Keep the Shuttle flying!

Welcome to being an "Old Timer", now....get off my lawn!

Double hit. Listening to the next one and no yelling! No unsightly TLT. I'm cured!

This.

I never played my K-Wing, save seeing how she flies in order to plan ways to trap her with Interceptors and kill her. I have quite a few copies of TLT and never used them until recently on a pair of Syndicate Thugs; they're nasty. Hated it. Felt bad. Never again.

I've used TLT bolted on BTL-A4 Y-Wings more than a turret, I think. That said, I've flown AGAINST them far too often. They made my T-65s very sad. I'm very tired of turrets.

I never could get myself to field the TLT or Harpoon outside of a simulated game.

Never felt sporting.

After I ran them, I felt a bath was needed. As Metallica would state about this card, it is "the thing that should not be."

Aside from the wall of text, I actually preferred to see harpoons in the field than TLT. For one, I was able to range control and deny people the chance to fire them. Two, the arc mattered. I've also had some pretty hilarious interactions with harpoons where four or five ships (from both our lists) died because of harpoons being triggered. They were ok... Just complicated and definitely power creep.

So, there us A LOT that has come out since the first day. Lots of little details, like in the thread about notes from day 2. I think it would be worth it for an episode to go through the finite list of all things we know and talk about them. Not everyone goes through the forums and we can add commentary as we go. Would that be a decent episode? Or do you guys think it's too much?

To be honest, I think a bit much. I find you guys are much better at scenario runs and reviews than trying to prognosticate on stuff we have little detail on. Give it time to simmer down.

Maybe touch up on some of the highlights? Such as what linked actions are and how ships like A-wings and Interceptors will have a lot? Also, no double repositioning and no double Foucs Evade stack?

Assuming there is no double repositioning is likely false. It's greatly reduced, yes, but something out there will likely do it... (coordinate is still a thing) and already we can see ways to get multiple focus tokens (Garven) so it'd be premature that you say it's gone. Now, things are very different in how evade tokens are treated and such. I'd stick to certainties if you guys decide to touch on it. Linked actions being a good example, I think, since there's a fair bit of confusion around it.
