I just preordered the core set and Rebel/Imp conversion kits, AMA.
I like that droids seem to be mechanically different to other pilots. I hope they also get there own version of EPT
Despite my gripes, overall I am happy with it.
It looks a lot better organized and looks to be a more solid game.

If Force users can get a special ability, it makes sense for droids to have it too. Love it!

Some have said it might be the dial in the Rebel spread with the 1-reverse, which would be very interesting to see.
I cannot tell you how much I hope that’s true. That dial looks rather nice, especially compared to what it has now.

don't count alphas out yet
proton torps seem VERY strong. will need to be balanced via point costs, which can scale depending on ship/pilot

You can say that again! There is also a Cloak token in the Rebel spread, so maybe...

Ever since Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, I wanted a HWK. It looked cool, fast, and pretty handy overall.
Then I started playing X-Wing, and despite being an Imp player, looked over and wanted the HWK. But my goodness did they screw it up. When I later became a Scum player I finally got a chance to use them, and the pilots abilities made them somewhat usable. But they were always flying with one wing behind their back.
Now? It could be what we always wanted it to be!

This is one ship I would buy a new version of if they fixed it. This should be a larger model on a medium base and fast.
I love the chained actions, which better control action economy. And I like the dogfighting emphasis caused by turrets having facings, and possibly for the bullseye facing. And how ammo and other abilities now have charges. I also agree with the move of the firespray solely over to scum.
I prepordered 2 each of the cores and ecah factions conversion kits. While this won’t cover everything I have, it certainly will let me use just just about any legal squadrons. I’ll have to wait and see just how many of each ship can now be crammed into a 200 pt squad, and maybe try and trade to fill any gaps. This was a fairly expensive endeavor, but not compared to the money I’ve already poured into my ship collection.
I’m debating on adding a few of the resculpted ships into my collection. I don’t really need them, but I want them... I may save these as buys when I play up at my FLGS. And, now, I have reason to get up to the store and start playing again!
A TIE Advanced that isn't garbage and the possibility for more varied synergy in squad building like Armada and Legion has me hyped for 2.0.

yehaw!
though i'm kinda worried about potential target-lock removal. that'll really shaft the tie/x1 even in 2.0
In a nutshell I think it will return the game somewhat back to it roots of a game where dials mattered and combos weren't as abusive. You are punished for poor action choices (as you should rightfully be) and better players should end up beating better card combos.
In regards to "how" it's being released, I think the conversion kits are about as graceful of a move they could make.
According to one of the images, it looks like the Lambda is getting a rear firing arc. WOOT!
For the imperial conversion box there may be a Palpatine at half cost! And lots of goodies for other ships!

Yes.
I also think the conversion kits are honestly the best we could hope for. If you break it down its like $1.50 per ship to upgrade it to 2.0. That is seriously not bad. The rules changes and new app is exciting. I am really looking forward to it.
I'm all the hype for 2.0. Bring it on.
This is not only good for the game, but fantastic for new players too. No more telling them they'll need multiple different expansions to make the starter set x-wing play life it should now, for one thing.

So much this! I've stopped recommending the game to new players when the TIE became obsolete and every ship had something like 2-3 additional required purchases to be viable. I am very confident that I'll be able to recommend 2nd ed. from wave one.
I stopped liking because I wanted to like very post.... I love the positivity for 2.0!
I had taken a step back from X-wing in the run up for Legion but I am ALL HYPE.
The sheer variety as people try out pilots and ships that haven't hit the table in ages is going to be AMAZING to see.
U-wing for the win!
reference TC video
I appreciate how any new pilots, upgrades etc that are packed into the re-released minis are also included in the faction upgrades.
I also appreciate how the fang fighter can rotate now... though I already have 5... looks like I'll end up with 7.
Rebalance is wonderful. I miss using... 90%? of my ships as they were crap. It should make tournaments more varied as well and not just a spam of 2-3 lists. (I hope)
Med bases are huge and should have existed years ago.
Fang fighters are the same AND NOW have a bullseye arc *giggles*
I am most looking forward to people having fun with the game again and having it feel new and exciting.
MEDIUM SHIP BASES!!!!!!
which ones have been confirmed? So far I’ve noted:
Firespray
U-wing
TIE Reaper
TIE Punisher
Mist Hunter
and I’m going to assume these as well:
IG2000
Arc-170
K-wing
Komigila
Scurrg
TIE Silencer
Possibly Outrider? I hope not.
and Flappy X-wings might lead to Flappy B-wings, GUNBOATs, TIE Hunters? I’ve heard 2.0 is the culmination of at least a years lead time, and the development of the GUNBOAT must have overlapped some, since Reload and the Wave-mate Kimogila’s bullseye arc were beta 2.0 features, but poor GUNBOAT wasn’t the first small base to get flappy wings....and we might not see 2.0 GUNBOAT flappy models for 12 more waves...
but im still positive!
I am positive...
...that this is the death of X-Wing.
I am positive that many players will be selling off their ships and never playing competitive x-wing again, after discovering they 1) Can't afford all the upgrade kits and 2) Don't have access to apps to build lists, because there are no points costs on the cards.
Absolutely inexcusable greed on the part of FFG.
I'm out.
