How many conversion kits do I need?

Probably enough, so that the money spent could get you a couple of new games otherwise ?

Depends. I'd probably say 1-3, tops.

If you mainly play competitive X-Wing, want to continue to do so and fly one faction more often than the others, start with that one od go from there. If you split your playing time between the factions equally, you can buy one of each, but you don't need to do it all at once.

If you play casually, or use all your ships in big Epic battles, you don't really need to buy any unless you and your friends want to - just carry on playing with the current set of Epic rules.

1, maybe 2 for standard play, maybe three when they bring in epic play.

You have more ships there of some types than will ever be legal in any normal game mode or tournament. I really don't understand it tbh, have you ever put more than four lambdas in a game at the same time?

Might be waiting a long time for that Nebulon B Frigate to appear in a conversion kit as well. ?

Time to bust out that second mortgage!!

What do you want to do with your collection? Want to play 100 points a lot? You'll get by with gradual upgrades. Epic and beyond? Probably better to stay 1.0, at least initially. I mean, it is not like that format is as broken as 100 points/in as much of a need of unified reform. New ships with just 2.0 material are also probably quite easy to add into 1.0 by just halving their point costs and adjusting slots a bit.

Several.

Tangentially related Q: I keep seeing people listing what is included in each conversion pack. I see it and then 10 minutes later forget which conversation that was in. Is there a link I can favorite that has that breakdown?

0.

10 lambdas.... I honestly don’t feel bad for you.

Keep playing 1.0.

12 lambdas....two in front of the row of 10...a lot of people miss that.

Was competitive for a while till the baby came along. I am excited and wondering how the 2.0 epic rules will be handled.

you only need a core set to play, plus a few small ship expansions to get a full point list

Well, I think you can afford it, so it doesn't really matter.
