I mean, it's kinda cool and all, but I seriously worry that models with such tiny moving parts are going to be MUCH more susceptible to breakage, plus, even in that TC video it looked like the model had difficulty staying open all the way.
Anyone else NOT excited about flappy x-wings?
I was pretty excited - until the TC video, anyway.
Those s-foils are...very...ummm...
Well, clearly they have a problem staying...uhhh...
I mean...really...the only word that could quite describe them is ' flaccid '. And that's definitely not how you want your s-foils to be thought of. If you know what I mean.
I'm happy for people being excited.
Being the diehard imperial player I am, the Striker is plenty for me
I didnt really care to be honest... it's a cool party trick and a way to generate interest in the X Wings again but it'd get real annoying playing against people wanting to move them up and down all the time. Plus we dont really see X wings constantly shifting their S-foils during space battles, only before and after the battles do they go back to closed.
I really do like the new s-foil card and the game dynamic that it brings, and its cool that the new models reflect the card but it didnt make me as excited as playing with an X wing fix.
I can see a lot of players asking each other before the match... "you don't mind if I just flip the card over and not adjust the wings do you?"

I think, after a few months of
hard
I mean serious playing that they are going to end up being "flappy" in the literal sense.

Force awakens would like to have a chat with you. I think we never saw it in the OG films because they had yet to think of it and even if they did it would be very hard to animate both the ship and the camera moves.
In TFA poe only does it to fit through a narrow gap, and immediately opens them in order to fire on the plasma doohicky. It's not something that's ever been mentioned as a standard tactical move except in one old flight sim game.

He does it a few times in the opening of TLJ too. Particularly when he pulls that T-Roll esque move to get behind the TIEs on his tail.
My bad, I've only seen TFA a few times and TLJ once- just never noticed that!
Hera does stuff like it too in rebels.
Fair enough I guess, I've not seen the last couple of seasons of Rebels and only seen TLJ once.

ANH alone tells us pretty clearly that there is no advantage in having them closed (if only there was a moment where all they have to do is fly as fast as possible in a straight line, hmm).
I will pretend that my pilots are switching power to engines/guns instead of flapping S-foils ?
If wings can’t flap then how do they fly?
It is a nice feature, but mostly aesthetic.... I mean, I can't imagine people constantly opening/closing the foils during a Match.
I seldom touch my striker's wings... Once in a blue moon, like to remind myself if it's suffering from critical hits... Or to differentiate it at glance from other striker....
99% of the time they'll be staying open anyway.
Or at least, as open as they can manage @ficklegreendice
Flappy is best.
Honestly they look kinda fiddly, I can't see people using them in game long term.
And personally, I have small enough amounts of Rebel stuff that I'm just going to get out of Rebels entirely. SO I'm thoroughly meh about them.
Seemed everyone as happy with the Shuttle’s and Stikers wings moving. Also, some of the most popular mods are making x-wing, b-wing’s wings to move and any turret to spin.

I would really love it if you can actually attach and deploy the Phantom to the Ghost
DiceHate's unboxing video showed them to move much more snappy than Alex's model in the TC video.
It also looks like the Y-Wing's turret is movable in the new models. I don't know for sure, but from what I can make out.

You could probably stuff a little blue pill in between to keep them open.

Yeah, they mentioned in the TC video that they were using a beta version of all the components.
