I know there are a few who aren't super into Second Edition. That's fine. I respect your opinion and I hope you respect mine for being excited for this as well, so let's not poo-poo on each other's parade here. Please?
Well... that's all I can do.
Anyway!
For those like myself who are pumped for the revamp, what are you getting day one? For me personally, I'm grabbing the new core set (I really want to replace my old X-Wing models with flappy wing versions and I want to replace two of my busted TIE Fighter models), 2 standalone X-Wing sets, 1 Y-Wing (it looks awesome... I'm a sucker for new models) and one of each of the upgrade packs. I'm also hoping I can split a couple other upgrade kits with other people in my local game store to fill out the ranks that a single upgrade kit can't. I MIGHT get a Firespray because I've been wanting to get a second for a while now.
For those excited for the new version, what are you getting day 1?
I'll get the core set and one of each conversion kit. don't really see a need for more than that.
Core and expansion packs most likely.
New core and conversions for Rebels and Empire (S&V at a later date). I'm hoping to draw my fiance in this time, and the streamlined mechanics and quick builds seem like a great way to pull in players who were worried it was complicated.
On a side note, digging the new pilots. I really want a Rebel version of Iden Versio.
Already pre-ordered the Core Set, the three existing conversion kits, and the Fang Fighter (I love the starfighter protectorate and CAN'T WAIT to have articulating wings!).
Crossing my fingers that the two remaining factions will have conversion kits ready by launch.
Hopefully, I'll be able to get all three kits and the new starter day one. Plan B is the starter and Scum kit.
i may try to grab some of the stand lone packs you the Y-Wing and Fang Fighter for the new models.
Core Set and 1 of the Imperial Conversion kits, may a Rebel Conversion kit if they made changes to the E-Wing and K-Wing that makes them competitive without being overpowered. Need to get my Black Fleet Crisis on.
Probably the new core and one of each conversion. That'll give me a fairly complete game in a playable state again.
Dependent on funds though.
Gonna be a new core and A conversion to test the waters
Excited and all (turrets mechanic DEAD) but gotta see if FFG lives up to the hype
The idea of a more limited action system that places great emphasis on manuevering is SUPER cool but I already see some things breaking the mold
First is protorps, they don't spend TL so they are 4 dice + reroll + focus --> CRIT. If they're cheap enough, a Luke/wedge alpha will kill most things
Next is Luke, who can spend a "force" to change 1 focus --> hit/evade and regains a focus when attacked (before dice get rolled)
Then there's Norra, which gets evade results when when the evade tokens only convert now
Finally, the reaper Jam could really hurt in a game where action independent modifiers are rare
Not to doomsay, I mean just IMAGINE a game where protorps Xs and Ys are OP(...it's so WEIRD ain't it!?). Just saying, keep an eye guys like these
Also REALLY like Thane's ability

Remember though that they've got the tools to nerf anything problematic into the ground now.
Core set and imperial and rebel conversion sets. I'm then looking to get the S&V set, another Imperial set and trading my leftovers for the holes I have in my rebel and S&V sets. How fast I'll move there depends on budget.

I am EXTREMELY curious what they're doing with those two Old New Republic ships. I hope we get a few more E-Wing pilots and I expect to see them getting a shield/hull overhaul like the X-Wing did (the T-65 will be 2 shield, 4 hull). The K-Wing I see losing either it's PWT or it's turret slot with Miranda being removed and replaced with a new pilot or with an altered pilot skill since it looks like while regenerating shields will be more common, it'll be far more limited (R2 Astromech grants 2 shield regenerations now)
The new Core Set. And probably a Rebel Alliance & Galactic Empire conversion kit (one of each).
new core. 1 of each conversion pack. holding off on Saw and Reaper for now.
Rebel and Imperial conversion kits for sure. Do I have to buy a new Core Set too?
New core set and Imperial Conversion. As I already play Legion and Armada its time to slim down my squads and stick to my favorite faction, though I'll probably grab the First Order conversion as well when it drops.
I'm not sure a new core set is actually necessary unless you're a competitive player. afaik you really only need two things in the core: templates, and the new damage deck. It seems easy to modify 1.0 templates with the extra markings of the 2.0 templates, so that really just leaves the damage deck.
I'm not too fussed about that. I think the old damage decks will work just fine. The new damage deck doesn't seem to make any fundamental changes, it may not even be that much different. I'm expecting a slightly different distribution of cards, and maybe some new effects. So far I haven't seen anything that suggests the old damage decks will be unusable, they're just not sanctioned for official tournaments.
I never buy anything on day 1 at full price. When I do buy in eventually, it'll probably be with a rebel and imperial conversion kit, but I'm definitely not buying at $50 a pop.
Core and Rebel Conversion kit at first. I have pretty much zero Scum except Nym (RIP Rebel version) and a small amount of Empire I may be able to trade for. I kind of want to the new y-wing model.
Fortunately i pretty much stuck to one faction so it won;t be to terribly bad to get everything up to date. I do hpoe they up the amount of t-65s in the kit. 2 is not enough. 3 would be better.
Edited by Hadrikeralso, don't know if this counts, but probably buying a Reaper ?
3 conversion kits, core set, protectorate fighter (never got it before), ywing (new model), tie reaper. I've got a lot to save.
Edited by ZuraDay 1? Nothing.
Because FFG will need at least til Dezember to ship their stuff to Europe via their regular distribution channels. ?
I mean they had the fantastic idea to switch their main European distributor to the UK of all places. I bet those guys have their hands full with figuring out how to deal with that brexit. They are supposed to ship all non-localized content to the continent. It got better at first, but the stores are already complaining about FFG not delivering on time and not having any useful Communication with them either. ?
So I don't see how those conversion kits will be ready to buy before December and I would not be surprised if it takes them even till 2019 ![]()
If i can build a competitive Squad with the models i have then i might pick up the new core set and the imperial conversion kit.
I would try to sell off most of the content of the conversion kit tho. Only need the Tie Fighters and the Tie Advanced stuff.
I actually live in Indiana, so planning on going to Gen Con. So, if the line to get into the FFG area isn't absolutely ridiculous (which it usually is, I'm not waiting an hour to pay retail for ANYTHING, sorry), then I will get a core and a rebel conversion kit there. Then I will get the imperial kit the following month at my FLGS.
If GenCon sells out before I can get in the booth, or if I refuse to wait there, I will just get them all at the FLGS. And save money too.
Core and 2 of the 3 conversion kits as of now. I'm lucky with my current ship count that I only need a single conversion of each. The 2.0 ship packs are on a as I need a 2nd ship basis. Scum is my wait it out a bit faction.
Core set and Galactic Empire conversion kit. Maybe Tie Advanced.
Scum and rebels will be buried and remembered with fondness
