Soooo... new ship models and 2.0 expansion packs?

Not true. They only guarantee that for Wave I not for Wave 2 and beyond. The Conversion Kit on launch they will not contain all the unique pilots they plan to re-release. Most of the pilots in the Conversion Kits will be generic non-unique pilots with just stats and no special abilities to allow you to field your old ships immediately upon release but not expected to remain competitive without re-purchases of old ships re-released blisters or future newer Conversion Kit purchases. They have not designed 2.0 that far ahead....they would be foolish to do so. The only guaranteed unique pilots in the Conversion Kits will be from Wave I. Same applies to the upgrade cards. Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando will not all, if any, be in the Conversion kit. You will need to repurchase the re-released Falcon blister pack when it rereleases in Wave 2 or 3 to get those unique pilot cards. Expect the launch Conversion Kit to have two generic YT-2400 pilot cards.

They already said there will be unique pilots for all the old ships in the conversion kits, some of them new to 2.0. We have already seen some of them in the preview.

Just finished watching a couple of the videos and the x-wing line developer (or whatever his title was, the designers boss, the guy who decided to do the new edition) explicitly said they are doing 2.0 packs for every currently out ship, and that they are doing so as fast as they are able. He kinda made it sound like all the ships would be updated within 12 months, but I may have been reading too much into that.

@KOG7777 Same guy also said that not all models are getting resculpts, only the ones that really need it or make sense to do.

If true, this would make me feel a lot better about the whole thing. I don't mind (too much) rebuying a select few types of ships to get much improved models. Movable S-Foils for T-65s, T-70s, and B-Wings will be nice. And I always had issues with the Y-Wing models... the engines rarely ever seemed to come out looking 100% aligned and parallel to each other. So a better designed Y-Wing model with turret that also fixes the screwy engine alignment would be nice. Would enjoy NOT having to rebuy E-Wings, K-Wings, and other ships I'm less interested in.

I really hope this is NOT the case. Having the conversion kits only allow you to fly generics, and being forced to rebuy ships to get 2.0 versions of named pilots, would be terrible.

I feel like going forward, they ought to offer 2.0 'ship+cards+tokens' packs and 2.0 'cards+tokens only' packs. I'm OK with having to pay for newly designed cards and tokens to play 2.0. But, as an example, I have 3 Falcons already (2 regular and 1 Heroes of the Resistance) so I'm not eager to buy yet more Falcon models.

I'm hoping the conversion kits will include 2.0 versions of any current pilots, other than those they play to eliminate entirely from 2.0.

In the streaming they have said multiple times that the conversion kit includes all pilots of wave 1 at least.

They also confirmed that for every new rerelease they are going to provide an "upgrade path" that would not require us to buy new ships. They haven't commented on the details of these.

The feelings you express are shared by many but this should be of no surprise to anyone. Successful games of this type always will evolve into a new version and you need to realize this when you decide to buy-in to a game. There will always be a better version of a product available someday. Only you can decide whether to "buy-in" to Version 2.0 or just be content with your existing 1.0 collection. Your financial commitment and capability needs to be the deciding factor or you will be faced with this contemplation all over again in a few years from now when they release Version 3.0 of the game if it remains successful enough to do so.

Sure, I get what you're saying. This is the first miniatures game I've invested in so it is a bit of a shock.

The tough part for me is basically the idea that, in order to continue going forward, i.e. keep buying and using NEW ships down the line, and be able to use them with my old stuff, I have to (at minimum) drop a bunch of $ on conversion kits. I don't really want to stop buying new ships and playing with them, so I pretty much have no choice about the conversion kits. As for buying newer redone 2.0 ship models, that part is for me and my wallet to discuss in private later.

For sure, I want to be able to buy Clone Wars ships if they release them later, and whatever new stuff they do based on future movies (like the Solo movie version of the Falcon). So I will be in for 2.0 to SOME degree.

As long as they don't do new models for every single ship from the Z-95 up to the Raider and CR90, and all I have to do is purchase some conversion kits and a few isolated updated 2.0 models at my discretion, I guess I will feel OK about it in the long run.

I was actually hoping they'd re-issue the red stripe T-65 with the movable S-foils model, so I can't complain about that. Still hoping for a blue stripe version as well, to be honest.

I'm just glad I never got around to buying acrylic tokens and movement templates for 1.0. I had wanted to, but never got around to it. Now I will wait until people start selling 2.0 acrylic tokens.

I AM happy to buy new stuff, and I certainly want FFG to make money on their product. I just wish we were getting more new ships (I really want Prequel stuff, to be honest), instead of what will probably be a lot of 2.0 revamps mixed in with occasional new ships.

I mean, we now have the force represented in the game and they created an entire new type of focus like action for droid pilots so I'd imagine that probably means we might end up seeing actual prequel factions at some point. And for clarity, IG-88 features the Calculation action which is basically a weak focus that converts one focus result to a hit or evade with upgrades and abilities being able to let them stack the weaker token more easily.

They probably have wave 2 done, since that is going to be coming out likely shortly after wave 1 with the ST era factions, and they have also clearly pointed out that they will have a path for 1.0 ship owners to get new pilots cards, upgrades, and necessary cardboard for them without having to rebuy ships they own. And going with my last comment it looks like the rebel conversion kit comes with calculate tokens so likely means that we get Leebo as a pilot. The only other droid character flying a ship I could think of for them would be Chopper.
