Bringing card out of shadows during marshalling phase

By Tunk, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi, if I bring a card out of shadows at the begining of the marshalling phase, can I tap one of my cost reducers to cover the gold cost?

The particular application I'm looking at is bringing a pyromancer's apprentice out of shadows at the begining of the marshalling phase by tapping shadowblack lane. If you're ahead on the intiative your opponent won't have any gold in hand to be able to save his location.

At first I thought it was legal but on closer reading I'm not so sure. Shadows must be the first action each phase and tapping a cost reducer would have to come after a card is bought out of shadows. It is an action afterall.

Think i answered my own question :/

Yeah, reducer must be kneeled before playing character. Moreover, bringing card out of Shadows is not "playing" a card.

That you did. Not only is the reducer not applicable to the situation (as Rogue 30 says: bringing a card out of Shadows is not the same as playing a card from your hand), but the timing of it all doesn't allow you to kneel the reducer before the opportunity to bring cards out of Shadows has passed.
