2 Question Poll about X-Wing and 2.0...

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

Hello,

As I am an inquisitive person I want to ask two questions and also please limit responses as the purpose is to collect data on this subject not debate what is going on,

Is X-wing your first Table Top mintures game?

is the cost of the refresh going to stop you from play?

Yes, and Depends.

No

No

Yes and **** no.

X wing is my first (I've since added Armada and Legion).

No; if anything, hearing the horror stories from the 40k players on the forums and that I know personally is perfectly acceptable to me. The new mechanics will hopefully fix my main issues with the game, so they have my response.

Yes.

I hope not.

No, and a million times no. The cost for re-enrty is a steal.

Yes and I think Vader put it perfectly with his last word in Revenge of the Sith.

I love this game and the changes look intriguing.

Nope played lots of other games before

I've actually been through a "refreshed" game that wasn't warhammer (been through warhammer too, but **** warhammer), and it was absolutely necessary for the long term growth of Warmachine/Hordes as Warmachine had become a game where the titular Warmachines...weren't good. (huh...kinda sounds like a certain game named after a ship that never saw play...)

Warmachine's a little different though in that the cost of the reboot was tiny since they only had to sell card packs, but the buy in for an army was FAR more pricey than an X-wing squad

As for re-entry, it depends on the following previews. We need to make sure the game's actually "Fixed" and we're not diving back into the same old jam. Granted, FFG learned from X-wing before (Armada) but there's always a chance they **** it up (it is FFG)

most likely I'll start with one faction reboot and see if it's worth diving further inside

Yes. I'm a lifelong RPG and boardgame player, but this is my first tabletop miniatures game.* (*that I've stuck with for any length of time; I've some Monsterpocalypse in my closet gathering dust but it was fun for a bit.)

No. After review, I'm excited. The cost for me entering into 2.0 isn't cheap (I play all factions, fly impulsive lists, and have at least duplicates of most ships), but it's worth it for me in the fun that I have and the potential that 2.0 will iron out a lot of the kinks.

Yes and no.

But if they pull this stunt with Armada. I will very likely be OUT for that game.

Nope.

If the game did not appear to be going back to maneuvers being key, I'd be out. Looks like arcs will matter though, so I'm still in.

Yes; no.

Yes. But when considering common classificiation of game genres ... X-Wing is not even a table top game over here. It's just a miniature game, while legion or 40k would classify as tabletops. The small scale of the skirmish style of X-Wing, together with pre-painted models ... not a tabletop, at least based on the local classification of games. I would not even consider buying into a table top. ? And now if I think about it, miniature games itself I had before. Stuff like Descent, etc classic miniature board games.

No. Lack of interested might still prevent me from buying into X-Wing 2nd edition. The quality of the changes need to justify the price. It not a small price and I actually like 1.0, so X-Wing 2.0 better be good and TIE-Fighters better be good.

No.

Probably not. Epic got the shaft again. And even if it doesn't, that's YET ANOTHER upgrade kit I'm out.

No and no. I am excited the faq was getting to convoluted

Yes, not sure. I mean, I'll still play with my First Edition stuff in any case. It depends on how cheaply I can amass the stuff I need to play -- I need a very small amount of stuff from multiple conversion kits.
