Lurker in the Threshold street date?

By Ken on Cape, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Any word on a more solid date other then spring 2010?

The folks at my local Game Parlor, here in Northern Virginia, have said that they shoul receive a shipment o/a 1 May.

I just finished reading the book this morning. There is one paragraph in the book where all of the base game AOs are mentioned by name, except Yig and Ithaqua. But they are both mentioned elsewhere—and so are Tsathoggua and Rhan-Tegoth. Ubbo-Sathla got a mention too.

I guess, in short, I'm trying to say that this expansion is going to be bonkers.

In fact, a good portion of the book took place in or mentioned Dunwich. Could it be possible that this expansion is the first of a series of "expansion" expansions, meant to counter mechanics dilution? This expansion could very well be "Dunwich Horror +." If so, maybe the next one will augment Kingsport, by causing gates to open there, meaning Dam will finally have to buy it!

If that is so, then the Stars are Right, and our world is doomed— there will be no time for Arkham Horror.

I certainly hope so. I'd LOVE for FFG to rejigger the rift mechanics or somehow allow gates to open or move to Kingsport. I'd like nothing better than to dust off the KH board. At the very least, I'm hoping for some new Innsmouth/Dunwich location encounters.

Seriously! Most of the story takes place in or concerns a mansion in the outskirts of Arkham; essentially between Arkham and Dunwich. Ambrose Dewart actually takes a day trip into Dunwich to interrogate the locals, and incites some strange behavior in them. A lot is said about Yog-Sothoth who, you'll remember, is the progenitor of the Dunwich Horror. I'm actually thinking that I'll combine Dunwich and Lurker in my "training regimen" since they are so closely related.

Time will tell though.

PS—just laid back to start a game of Arkham, with (my first) bottle of whiskey and a completed ambient soundtrack. Additionally, I served myself shots of whiskey in a Cthulhu shot glass my friend got me for my birthday a few years ago. The stars are indeed right.

::Laughter:: I'm envious of your soundtrack. Is it as good as the samples given?

Yes, the Aklo records are great. But together they are 1.8 hours. They would get repetitive during a game, or series of games.

What I did was got my hands on a BUNCH of soundtracks from Silent Hill and Biohazard (Resident Evil). After the better part of a day, I had managed to weed out all the inappropriate tracks and keep the considerably creepy ones. Even though there are many albums that contributed only a few tracks, and some that contributed none at all, I still wound up with an "ambient" playlist of 194 tracks and 6.7 hours, and a "final battle" playlist of 29 tracks and one hour.

The current game we're working through is against Tsathoggua, so any possible final combat will be cut tragically short...
