Boycott

By ryanabt, in Star Wars: Armada

ing* Naboo in Episode 1 was a realistic, but far too nuanced beginning to the episode that many fans disliked. I personally, thought it a good aspect of the film.

What parts of Star Wars have fans disliked but you appreciated?

*I realize that it was a blockade rather than a boycott, but the clickbait didn't work without this.

I personally like the inquisitors from rebels, even though a lot of people I know don't like them, I find them especially interesting and I only wish there backstories were explored more since we truly know only a little bit about there pasts (except for the grand inquisitor of course who has a interesting backstory in my opinion)

The Prequels in their entirety. I will defend them to the grave. They are flawed, I acknowledge this. But so too are all films.

Rango is a perfect film and I won't have you besmirching its reputation.

Except for "The Empire Strikes Back".

Well then you'll love the new Han Solo/Lando book. One of the character is supposed to be an Ewok slicer.

I personally like the prequel battle systems. (Ships, Vehicles, Infantry Weapons, Droids, etc) with the exception of the Jedi Starfighter from Episode 3. I felt the ship was way to small, and would have worked as a Escape Pod or something, but not as a star fighter.

Yub yub commander

I grew up watching the prequels, and have a much bigger love for them than the OT. Despite my fathers extensive collection of Star Wars toys from his childhood (original falcon, gonk droid etc)

I don’t really know what I enjoy more about the prequels. They are just so much more rich and meaningful to me. Karen Traviss’ Republic Commando series was, I think, central to my enjoyment of this era.

But Rebels and TFA/TLJ have brought me back into having a renewed interest in the OT. The OT has the charm of originality, it feels like you’re on the brink of a galaxy far far away .

I love every Star Wars story, even Battlefront II, and in a world where it is fashionable to hate something I treasure that feeling even more :)

Okay, prepare the rotten vegetables, or even better stone (or even Hand grenades?),...

BUT I enjoyed The Last Jedi quite a bit.

BUT I enjoyed The Last Jedi quite a bit.

While watching it I was completely indifferent to it all (other than laughing at Super Leia), but when they had the fight in the throne room... and then Kylo started talking about killing the past...

I really thought they were about to recognize what I’ve been saying since the prequels: the Jedi weren’t good at representing their own ideals and were no better than the Sith in those regards. Both sides of that coin never represented the force correctly.

It felt like Kylo and Rey both recognized that and were going to go somewhere new and work together for a common cause (perhaps serving the actual will of the force as a physical representation of balance by fighting things like the war profiteers that were introduced). But no... instead Kylo says to kill the past and then basically repeats a direct line from his grandfather.

I wanted to like it, and had it gone far enough with establishing a further take on mythology (which has been the results of decades of study on Campbell’s The Hero with a 1,000 Faces) it could have opened up a whole new world of ideas instead of slipping back into a dull (to me) representation of good vs evil (only dull because the original trilogy did it so well). Having Kylo and Rey check the good and evil that manifests in BOTH of them (like real people) and help each other stay on track could have been mind blowing.

Yes! I also like him and do think Jar Jar was the best part of Episode 1 alltogether.

The Legends Expanded Universe.

There has always been a very vocal backlash against the old EU, but I loved it despite its many warts, (and oh boy did it have many.)

I still feel there were some magnificent gems that were terrible to lose, and a lot of those bemoaners missed out on some great Star Wars by not giving them a chance.

I always liked the idea of the adventure. I like the WW1 Flying Ace trope of the fighter pilots, the Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon heroes and the fairy tale aspects of Star Wars.
